Our Crazy New Years
This year we actually went to a party for New Years Eve. We're usually at home in our pjs counting down with Dick Clark then off to bed after a few hugs and kisses. Nothing too exciting. This year we were invited to some friend's house for a party. We had basketball shootoffs, air hockey games, puzzles, rockband, and great food to eat. We had only planned on staying until Jake was ready to go, but he just kept going right up until about 11:30! If we left then, we wouldn't have made it home from their house by 12, so we just stayed. I'm glad we did.
As soon as the clock hit 12, everyone yelled "Happy New Year". Suddenly, I was being pelted with marshmallows!!! Seriously, a ton of marshmallows were flying around the room! Our friends, the Belnaps, apparently have this yearly tradition of having a marshmallow fight with their kids and whomever else is there that night. I'm not kidding when I say the marshmallows were flying for 20 min! Jake finally got smart and ducked under the air hockey table. Brent was getting pummled because Geoff had the brilliant idea of "nail the Bishop"! All the teenagers and kids let him have it. Everyone cracked up laughing! It was such a fun tradition, I think we'll have to keep this one going in our family. So, here's your warning. IF you ever happen to be at our home over New Years Eve, get ready for a fun marshmallow fight! (And suprisingly, everyone was really careful not to squish any into the carpets.) The Belnaps try to keep this a secret so any new families they invite the next year won't have a clue what's coming-- much like we didn't. So, the pictures will have to be here instead of on our blog. We don't want some of the readers from our ward to know about the surprise attack!

I have yet to play Rockband. I've played plenty of Guitar Hero, but never tried the Rockband stuff. We had a marshmallow fight one Christmas morning a few years ago, but we used marshmallow guns to do it. We each got a bag with all the parts in it, had to assemble it ourselves, and the first one done got to start firing while the others were still assembling. It was awesome. -Jess
