Did you all see my nasty hand? Check out the picture on our Burnt Toast blog.
Also, listen to this and tell me what you think.
On Sunday, we had ward council. Our Bishop had us come up to the podium and stand in a circle with our hands on a binder that had all the ward records in it. Then he had us put our other hand on the shoulder of the person next to us. He proceeded to say a prayer for all the people in that binder.

I find that very interesting. Both the drunk Zorro insignia on your hand, and the ward council happenings.
I can perhaps see why your bishop did what he did, although I'm not sure I would have been comfortable with it. My reasonings are best shared via email or phone, though, and not necessarily on a public blog. -Jess
I think the stake should be made aware. That's a little too uncomfortable for most people I think. I don't know if I would've joined in.
I agree with Chelsey! There is no way that I would have done that.
yeah i agree. You know the motto "i am willing to do anything once." yeah, thats not my motto. Seems a little wierd doing that in Ward Council.
My first thought was that he was mimicking something in the temple, but Jen's first thought was that it was more like a baby blessing. Either way, both actions seem a bit overboard.
The hard thing is to know how each of us would react in this situation. Would you really immediately object, or would you second-guess yourself because your priesthood leader is suggesting this and you wonder internally if you just don't know the correct protocol? I imagine most of us would awkwardly join that circle and then ask around afterward.
Good point Jen. Still a little weird for me though. Aren't you glad you're moving out here Adrianne ~ cause you know, there's no weirdos out here! ;)
Yeah, no one in Ohio inviting the youth into other youths' bedrooms or anything...;). Jess
Jess, I will respond to your email when I have more time. I will say though that my initial thoughts were the prayer circle but then on second thought I saw it the way Jen saw it. After thinking about it for a long time (I still don't know all my feelings on it) I have thought that he didn't use any priesthood authority other than leading the prayer and saying it.
