Fun in DC

Hey folks, while Hans is in Iraq and Mike is sunbathing in Guam, I'm frolicking in the Washington, D.C. area. I had a seminar in Greenbelt, Maryland, all day yesterday and have two presentations to give in downtown DC tomorrow at the USDA headquarters. But today was wide open and all mine. I am staying in Greenbelt, MD (about 15 miles from downtown DC), so I took the subway down to the Mall today and saw the Capitol Building, Smithsonian Air and Space Museum, Smithsonian Natural History Museum, Washington Monument, White House, and Lincoln Memorial. My legs and feet are very tired.

Tonight I hooked up with a college classmate who works out here and lives in Leesburg, VA. I took he and his wife to dinner on my per diem ($64/day!), then chatted with them at their house.

It's been a good trip, but I'm more excited to do this again, but with Jen so we can both enjoy the sights. And the daytime highs have been 45-50 degrees...about 15-20 degrees warmer than SLC. And no snow here...

It sounds like you've had a good trip. It was great to be able to see you for a little while the other day! I think you took the warmth with you though! It's blowing hard today and waiting out at the bus stop with the kids this morning reminded me of my early years waiting for the bus in the NE cold winters. BRRR! It's something like 25 degrees this morning. Have I mentioned that wind makes it miserable??

Anyway, I hope you're presentations go well today and I'm sure your family is looking forward to having you home. Thanks for stopping through Cincy on your way out. That was a special treat!

I love Maryland..it is so beautiful and of course I like Mike's family so that adds to my love of Maryland. Unfortunately, you've seen more of DC than I have. We went to the temple but didn't get to see any sights. Maybe next time I am there we will get to DC. I hope you get to come home soon to your family. Wives need their husbands!

I have never been to DC or to Maryland. That is a great opportunity.

And Adrianne, you girls are missing your wives. But the fact is that the husbands miss the wives way more than the other way around. Its a fact. I even miss my wife when she goes to work!

Some how I doubt that, dad.

I mean about the husbands missing their wives more than the wives missing husbands. I believe you do miss mom while she is at work. But maybe that is the answer. When mom goes to work, she is busy and surrounded by adults to talk to. When Mike goes to work, same thing. He misses me but he has adults to talk to and things that have deadlines to meet.

Moms, or dads that stay home, are busy too. And our work isn't easy! We aren't surrounded by adults though. I make sure we have play group just so I can have an adult to talk to. Mike comes home and asks me all the time who I talked to and usually the only answer is Chelsey. Thanks for calling me Chelsey and giving me adult conversation.

So, my point is, I bet you do miss mom when she leaves like we miss our husbands when we leave. But I doubt our husbands miss us as much as we do.

I agree with Adrianne!

I guess the men in this group are lucky. Perception is everything sometimes. And if the women think they miss the men more, then that is great. Then when the men come around they can think of themselves as needed. Fat chance. You women are so self contained that it seems sometimes we men are just appendages. But there is one aspect of men-women that some seem to have forgotten, and men are far more needful than women, usually. Does that make us rats? It sure keeps you women beautiful.

Dad, I'm not sure half your comment makes sense. And would you keep your "dirty old man" thoughts pent up inside? It's a little awkward / uncomfortable to constantly read about my Dad's sexual desires...
