Morning View

Last night we decided not to go to Elisabeth's surprise birthday party because of the storm. It wasn't snowing at all when I left Provo but when I reached Salem, I ran into whiteout conditions. Can I just say that having snow tires for the first time ever while living in Elk Ridge was the smartest thing we've ever done? I was able to get home without any problems at all. Jim had gone to the doctor and had Ammon with him so they were behind me by about a half hour. He, too, was able to get home without any difficulty but he said cars were off the road or stuck in the road as is usual in Elk Ridge.  When I got home I noticed that the wind had blown one of our empty garbage cans over so I picked it up and put it back in place. There was no snow on top of it at 6:00 p.m. last night. There is now!  I believe we have had a record snowfall. I don't know what time I will be able to get out of my driveway and down to work today but it's going to take some serious shoveling just to get out of the driveway. I haven't seen nor heard a snowplow come up our road since this storm began. Luckily, there is no school today - but that also means there is little motivation for the snowplows to get out early.
This is my morning view!

These pictures make me SO happy that we're not still there. I was getting really sick of the snow during the holidays. That's a lot of snow! Today in KC, we are having a record breaking warm day. It's a high of 65. Of course, it's overcast and too windy to go outside and tomorrow the high is 32. Bring on the weird Midwest weather.

It is 50 degrees here today. I am counting myself fortunate. I don't know that I have ever seen that much snow in one place at one time.

I'm glad we left when we did then, because being the snow hater that I am, I would be one very miserable and freaked out woman if we were out driving or standed in this. I ONLY like snow when I can safely watch it from inside my house and I know that everyone in my family is home also and not driving in it. I'm a nervous wreck in storms. I think I need medication. Enjoy your snow. HOpe you can dig out soon.

That last comment was made by me, Michelle, not Jason. He was logged in and I didn't notice.

Holy snow! That is an amazing amount, it reminds me of Island Park or Driggs up here in Idaho. Hope you were able to dig out of your driveway!

Apparently, South Jordan is the place to live here in Utah. Ha! We only got a few inches and the roads are pretty decent down here. So glad all that snow is not at my place!
