Update

I was able to hold Mia for about five minutes tonight in the NICU (Newborn Intensive Care Unit). She didn't have the little eye protector on and looked totally darling and normal except for the IV in her arm. As soon as she got that head gear on, she settled down for a nice nap.
She is under lights for the bilirubin issue. It increased slightly over the course of the day so she will probably be there for a few days unless things change dramatically in the next 24 hours or so. She is stable. They are giving her some fluids to hydrate her via the IV and an antibiotic because her white blood cell count was elevated. She apparently has some kind of infection.

The hospital reserved a little room for Gillian to sleep in nearby so she can be there to nurse the baby. Some of you might remember the PICU room I had one night - single bed but at least it wasn't sleeping with 20 other people you didn't know. Gillian had to check out of her room at 9:00 tonight. I would imagine Kevin will go home to sleep.

Here's their hang-0ut for the next couple of days. Please keep this little family in your prayers. This is a hard situation to deal with and especially when it's your first baby. It will be so fun to finally see her all dressed up once she is able to go home.

Poor baby girl! I hope she can go home soon, and I really feel for Gillian having to stay at the hospital with her. We'll definitely pray for them. She is a cutie pie, what gorgeous hair!

Thanks Mom for giving an update and thanks everyone for all the texts and calls. Sorry I didn't answer my phone much today, I really needed some sleep and was in and out of the NICU feeding Mia most of the day.

The room they are letting me stay in is actually really nice, it is a double bed so Kevin gets to stay with me!! YAY! It has a huge bathroom with a huge shower and the room is actually pretty big too. We have a microwave and fridge and lots of cupboards to put our stuff in. It's right down the hall from the NICU so we are super close to our little sweetie.

I really hope she gets to come home soon, but I will not be letting many visitors come for a while because of the whole NICU thing. She has an infection and I just want to keep her as germ free as possible. Hopefully everyone will understand.

I love being a mommy and love watching Kevin with our sweet baby. I will try to blog tomorrow with more updates and info. Off to bed we go...

I am sorry she has to stay in the hospital but it is so nice that you can stay close. We will keep her in our prayers! She looks so pretty even with her eye sheild.

Sorry she has to stay in the hospital. You are doing the right thing by not having visitors see her, she needs to get better. I did that with Daniel when he was in the NICU, I didn't let people with him except for Jason, Caleb and Chris. Soon she will be home and you can get on with normal life. She's adorable.
