Shortly before Lance left Barlows, he gave us some scrap pieces of expensive wood. I believe he called it Brazilian cherry wood but it may have another name. We instantly recognized the high quality of the wood but we weren't sure how to use it. As Jim has begun to slowly clean out the garage, he decided to take the wood over to Calvin's to see if it might be possible to make a piano bench out of it. Calvin is getting quite old and can't do much himself, but he can still instruct and teach. Jim worked hard on this bench. He put in about 40 hours making it. Today he brought it home and it is absolutely gorgeous! Calvin instructed him to inscribe on the inside of the seat who made it, when it was made and where it was made because this piece is one that will last for generations. I'm really proud of Jim and how hard he worked to bring me such pleasure. He knew I wanted to change all the odd pieces of wood in the living room and this is where we begin. Jim still has it in him!
Thank you to Lance for your gift to us.

That's beautiful.
Wow! It looks great! You can build us stuff anytime!
Legit talent.
That looks so good. I love how the legs taper. Let me know how that whole matching furniture thing goes, I don't think we'll ever be there.
That's a really nice bench. I'm always impressed with the woodwork you do.

I wish we had a bench like that...Mike--are you reading this?!

I hope everyone realizes that this is my piano and bench when mom and dad pass. NO questions asked. It just goes right to me.
Love your favorite sista,
Katydid ;)
I am serious though. Mine. Both of them are going to be mine.
