It's Party Time!

Today I graduated from physical therapy. It's been three months and 10 days since I started therapy. I can now get my knee about 120-125 degrees without much pain. I walk pretty well now but still have a bit of trouble sleeping without some discomfort.

I have not weighed myself, but I have lost quite a bit of weight in the process. A vendor that came to visit me yesterday (a good friend) commented that the back of my pants are pretty baggy now. I need to buy a few new ones that fit. I can't wear my wedding ring right now because it will slip off.

Before I left tonight I asked my physical therapist what I could and should do to be active and not put the weight back on. I asked him how to keep my knee from freezing up. He basically told me to keep active like I usually am, don't sit for long, inactive hours, don't walk up too many stairs for too long of a time, don't walk too far and be careful for the next three months. Well, that didn't help me much figure out what I can do to keep the weight off. Jim and I are hoping to buy a recumbant (sp?) bike because that is the best exercise I can do for a few more months.

Von is very happy with the progress I've made. I might have to go back in occasionally if the knee flares up, but for now I'm done. The other day when I went for a short walk, I had more pain in the right knee than the new knee. I think that is a good sign.

I was excited to come home and celebrate with Jim and Ammon but they aren't here and I have no idea where they went. Well, the party is still to happen.

Yeah me. Finally.......
