Image Challenge!

Ok, now Jess can participate. This one is pretty easy. See if you can identify this place. And what are the funny shaped parcels as well as the large white splotch on the image?

I know it, although I looked in the wrong place(s) first.

I'll await other answers and then share the clues I saw. -Jess

Got it. Like Jess, I looked in the wrong place first (right area of the US but wrong mountain).

I, unfortunately, have never been here but from what the rest of you told me, it was a fun trip.

We thought it might be mount hood in oregon, but now after looking at images it's not quite the same... thats Kevin and I's best guess

I know it.

Mt. Hood was my first guess also. Think one state south and the 1989 family vacation.

The funny shaped parcels on the left are forest harvests (clear cuts). The large white splotch is actually snow and rock.

This formation is very common on the Cascade Range from Washington down to northern California. I originally thought it was one of those peaks in Washington / Oregon but couldn't find it. Then I extended my search south and found what it was.

I've been to Mt. Hood and Mt. Adams in Washington...quite magnificent scenery! -Jess

I know it, too, and it was one of the greatest, little quick family vacations we ever took. I know what the parcels are, too. Wow - finally I can find something. :)
I believe, Jason, you were off having fun at Camp Winton. Am I right about that?

I was home working while you guys had fun hiking around Mt. Lassen. This was the summer right before my mission so I was working as much as I could.

Bumpus hell. That's all I remember from that vacation. You all told lance and I that dragons lived in it.

That was the trip of our cinder cone hike (me, Adam, and Chelsey) where someone had the great idea to hike it sans shoes. That was fine at the bottom because it was fairly fine sand, but at the top the rocks were much bigger. Then someone had a great idea to slide down on our bottoms instead of walking. Chelsey ruined a pair of shorts. I also remember camping by the lake and we slept under the stars and "built" our beds out of pine needles. It was a pretty fun camp out. -Jess

I do remember the cramped car! But everywhere we went was cramped so what was the difference?
David, we told you that dragons lived in Bumpus Hell because you didn't seem to be afraid of anything except dragons. I was afraid you would try to step in the "bubbly" water and burn yourself.
It was so nice to be up there out of the city.
