Richards G. Scott

We went to the adult session of Stake Conference tonight. Elder Scott came to speak to us. He basically just did a question and answer thing. He asked us a question and then had members in the congregation give answers and then he had us ask question. He then spoke for a few minutes. One of the things he said was very interesting. He said basically, "Men, be kind to your wives because many of you will be surprised when you die to find that your wives are given a choice and many of them will say, 'I spent my life with you and I don't want to spend my eternity with you because of the way I was treated.'" He was really funny too, which was refreshing and surprising. I'm glad I was able to go tonight--we had reserved a babysitter a week and a half ago knowing that they were all going to be used and this morning got a call saying that she was sick. I called every young women I could think of and finally told Mike I was done calling people and if he wanted me to go with him, he would have to find the babysitter. He went upstairs and called a co-worker that is in the other stake. So, I'm glad I got to go and I'm excited for tomorrow.

I am glad you found a babysitter and were able to go! We missed our stake conference. I was feeling sick yesterday so I stayed home in bed. Bummer.

Did he address the CES situation?

General authorities are so much fun at these smaller settings like Stake Conference. I've been at stake conferences with Elders Nelson, Ballard, and Featherstone. All were exponentially more fun there than General Conference. -Jess

Jess, no, he actually didn't. He did have all the kids stand up and then he said, "Parents, look at your kids. See how they are all smiling? You need to smile more." and then he told a joke, "How do you make sure you will always wake up with a smile? Go to sleep with a hanger in your mouth." He didn't say much on Saturday except he told us about the first presidency--a little about their personalities and their health and then he talked about his wife that had passed away.
