no excuse now dad!


dad, you said you didn't have a recipe, so I found one that I know I will like. Now lets get makin it!  wahoo!!! this is a copy cat salsa from chilis.

Ingredients

    • 1 (14 1/2 ounce) cans tomatoes and green chilies
    • 1 (14 1/2 ounce) cans whole canned tomatoes ( plus the juice)
    • 4 teaspoons jalapenos ( canned,diced, not pickled)
    • 1/4 cup yellow onions ( diced)
    • 1/2-3/4 teaspoon garlic salt
    • 1/2 teaspoon cumin
    • 1/4 teaspoon sugar

Directions

  1. In food processor place jalapenos and onions.
  2. Process for just a few seconds.
  3. Add both cans of tomatoes, salt, sugar, and cumin.
  4. Process all ingredients until well blended but do not puree.
  5. Place in covered container and chill.
  6. A couple of hours of chilling will help blend and enrich the flavor.
  7. Serve with your favorite thin corn tortilla chips.

I make a very similar recipe but I don't put sugar in it. I love it. I also don't put the jalepenos in it because it is too hot for the boys but if they weren't eating it I would. Also, I don't use whole tomatoes. I use one can of diced tomatoes with green chilies and one can of normal diced tomatoes. Once I tried two cans of diced tomatoes with the chilies and it was super hot and I was very surprised by it because I like hot stuff. Oh, and I put a tiny bit of cilantro--but not a lot and pepper and lime.
