Blowing White Smoke

As soon as the word got out that our family would be moving, rumors and speculation began flying. I am asked E.V.E.R.Y. day who the new RS Pres will be. And every day, my response is the same: "I don't know, it's the bishop's decision who to call, and I wouldn't tell you even if I did know". The speculation is absolutely ridiculous. I happened to mention it to a friend of mine (from the ward) how frustrated I was getting. I think people have been assuming I actually know, but refuse to tell them.

So this is what my friend suggested:
Post on facebook that I am going to be sequestered until a decision is rendered. When I find out a decision has been made and ready to be announced, release white smoke from my chimney. That way, the 3rd degree questioning can stop.

I tell you what, I'm about ready to take that suggestion! I understand some degree of curiosity, but the honest truth is that the bishop has already said the decision may not be made til after we move. The 2 counselors and secretary will be able to run the show til the new presidency is called. I may be doing some long distance calls for a bit with whomever he calls. And that's fine; I just want the intense questioning to be done with!

I cannot believe how intense people are about knowing these kinds of things. Frankly, who cares who's going to be the next RS President? Only those that want to be, I suppose.
Loved this post - loved the blowing smoke!!

Sorry about all the fuss there. We see the same thing, not so intense, when it's time to call a new Bishop. We always talk about putting up campaign signs!! Gotta say though that we are pretty excited you are moving!!
