But, there is another reason I like the 4th of July weekend (this is the part that is probably not very interesting to you all). On July 2nd, 2003, Mike unofficially proposed to me. It was a really lame proposal to be honest. The night before he had told me he just wasn't sure about things so when I talked to him the next night he said, "So, what color gold to you want--gold or white gold?" Uh, what? Lame though the proposal was, I'm so glad he asked me to marry him. My relationship with him is anything but lame and I love him very much. I remember on the 4th of July talking to him for two hours on the phone, giddy at the thought of marrying him. So, I always think fondly on that weekend when the 4th of July comes around.
P.S. The real proposal was better...he had a layover in Utah so I drove to Salt Lake, picked him up, and went to Chelsey's house. Chelsey and Brent hid upstairs while Mike got on one knee and proposed. I said yes, we made out, Chelsey reminded us that Mike's plane was leaving soon, and I drove him back to the airport. He had to take the ring back to get it sized and his layover was only about an hour so I didn't get to spend much time with him. Not the proposal I had envisioned but better than over the phone. Honestly, I don't care about the proposal, I'm just happy to be married to him!

I'm glad you both ended up together. I like Mike a lot and he seems like such a great husband to you and Dad to his children. I like the 4th of July too. I hope it ends up being wonderful for you even if you don't get to shoot off fireworks.
I remember that night. Brent and I were trying hard not to intrude, but couldn't help but giggle about it. Glad we could be a small part of it all. We certainly like you and Mike together too!
