I was teasing Brent today that it is amazing to me that we've got 3 kids and only 1 e.r. visit between the 3 of them; but with Brent, we've managed to make something like 4-5 hospital visits. Last night was another one. He's getting good at detecting when his kidney stones are moving and keeps a close watch on them, but 9 times out of 10, the pain subsides and he won't feel it move again for months. Yesterday, was a bit different. He could feel the pain coming and going, but it didn't seem to get worse.
About 4 am this morning, the pain did get worse and even though we had a bit more prescription left over from the last round of kidney stones (it had expired though!) it didn't help the pain. Thankfully, there's a hospital about 2 miles from our house, so we spent the morning there getting some new meds and cat scans again. The CT scans showed something new this time though. He's got 2 kidney stones, and 1 gallstone. We weren't aware of the gallstone, and it hasn't given him any trouble -- yet. The doc said what to look for if the gallstone starts causing problems, so at least we'll know if unexplained pain shows up. He'll have to have the gallbladder removed if it starts acting up. My poor guy. He's had a pretty miserable day and has a hard time with some of the meds.
And to top it all off, we were supposed to speak in sacrament meeting today. I guess that's one way to get out of an assignment!

That is the best excuse I have heard for getting out of speaking. Too bad though that you have real things going on that are hurting you. I'm sorry to hear you are in such pain. Hopefully you won't need your gallbladder out and every thing.
I'm sorry you have to have so much pain, Brent! Just watching Gillian struggle with her gall bladder attacks was tough. I can't imagine the pain of kidney stones.
I'm glad you're doing a little better. You maybe ought to stay away from making big decisions today until you are sure the effect of those strong meds are out of your system.... :) That might prove to be very interesting.
