It might be interesting - BYU in the Big 12?! I'd rather be in the Big 12 than the Pac 10 any day. What do ya'll think?

Utah in the Pac10 and BYU in the Big12 or MWC would diminish the rivalry. Utah in the Pac10 and BYU in the MWC would totally give Utah an ego boost. Perhaps they need that.
It would be fun to see how BYU matches up with teams in the Big 12. Besides Oklahoma last year, we don't get to see many matchups where we can truly compare the teams / conferences. The underlying assumption is that those BCS conferences have better teams across the board than conferences like the MWC. However, that is largely a "we're from a bigger school and conference and we're ranked higher so therefore we must be better" without actually playing each other to learn the "truth." I'd be excited to see how the Cougs match up.
There had been talk on-going with the Pac 10 to see if BYU would fit there (last summer, according to an interview I heard with Tom Holmoe). Sunday play is the issue -Utah plays on Sunday if they need to but BYU will not. The Big 12 has Baylor in their group and they don't play on Sunday so that may make the option possible.
I would bet that we would continue to play Utah like we do USU just for the rivalry even if we split up. I would be excited to see how BYU could grow if they made this change. (I don't care if Utah grows or shrivels.)
Utah would be a good fit for the PAC 10 as would BYU - if not for the Sunday games. I don't think BYU would be a good fit for the Big 12 nor do I think that Rutgers or Pitt should be invited to join the Big 10 (really the Big 11) if the Big 10 is going to add anybody, it should be Notre Dame although we know that will never happen. BYU in the Big 12 would make the basketball season a little more interesting though.
Why do you think BYU would not be a good fit for the Big 12? Isn't that your conference? Do you think BYU would be the bottom dweller or is there some other reason? Just curious.
Notre Dame should be in a conference. None of this "riding on reputation" garbage. Notre Dame is a better geographic fit for the Big 12, that's for sure. So is TCU should Colorado flee the Big 12. BYU's only pull anywhere is their national following due to the LDS Church.
The reason I don't think BYU should be in the Big 12 is because their style of football is more like the PAC 10's. Also, I would rather my tithing money went to shorter flights (UW vs. Iowa State, I guess that would be a moot point if the BYU athletics program was self-sustaining as it probably is?). However, if they want to be destroyed by Texas and Nebraska (I am a bit biased, of course) every year, they can come on in. Having said that, they did prove they could handle Big 12 competition this last year even if that was one of Oklahoma's worst years in quite a while.
We've mentioned Pitt, Rutgers, and TCU, but what about BSU? They are consistantly a better football team than those first three.
The whole ND thing irritates me. The other two big schools in Indiana are in the Big 10, why can't ND join a conference? I guess as long as they have such a lucrative contract with NBC, they have no reason to do so.
