Ammon is doing extremely well! He had a very quiet, uneventful night's sleep. It looks like he will be moved out of PICU and on to a regular floor today. Three male nurses were cleaning him up and changing his sheets last night and were joking with each other. Ammon finally said, "Less talk and more work here!" They all burst out laughing and just kept working. His sense of humor wasn't lost in that "no-man's land" where he has been for the past 5 days.
He is on room air - no supplemental oxygen and his blood gases were perfect this morning. I'm not certain he will even need a bi-pap machine but that is still to be determined.
You are all invited to a "trach-out" party - date still to be determined!
