Stirbabe is Awake

After almost five days being totally paralyzed and not moving, tonight they took the young man into surgery and took out the intubation tube that he had in his throat. It did not take long and Dr. Smith came into the waiting room and talked to us about him not to long after Mom got there.

He will need to be careful for several days while the skin grows over the cartilage ring that they used to open his trachea. He cannot use a bi pap machine while this is happening since the pressure is too great for the healing to take place.

He will be in the hospital for a few more days, but hopefully only one more day in the ICU. But he opened his eyes and for the first time since the surgery he could recognize us and communicate a little.

Before I left, I leaned down close and told him I was proud of him. That is one thing that he said he wanted to happen. I told him that and then said that I loved him. He started to cry and so did I.

Chris and I went into a room just as the surgery was underway and said a prayer. It has was immediately answered in the affirmative. Ammon has a continuing mission to perform with his parents, and with his other siblings. Time will come for you all.

Chris and I love you all and appreciate the love you show us and Ammon. He loves you all and talks of you often. Keep praying for us all and we will be immensely blessed.
Chris stayed up in Salt Lake tonight. It is late here at home, but I wanted to give you some details before going to bed. I will be going up again tomorrow afternoon.

Hope I have not forgotten anything important.

What a blessing! I'm so happy to hear things went well. I will continue to pray for him. Please tell Ammon we love him and give him lots of kisses from me. However, tell him he's not allowed to wipe the kisses off this time. :)
