Family Party

Lance already blogged about this on his fancy pantsy lancy nancy blog, but here it is again with slightly different pics. It was a little weird having a Christmas party at Mom and Dad's house...without Mom and Dad. We had a soup buffet (chili and potato soup, cornbread, croissants, and a large fruit basket out in the garage pantry that we completely forgot about!) for dinner. After the yummy dinner, we did "gingerbread" houses with graham crackers. I think Dave and Tana win the award for most original idea: single-wide trailer (notice the TV antenna on the roof), piles of junk, and a broken-down tractor in the front yard. I think Tana pulled from her Southern roots to conjure up the idea.

We all had a good time and everyone was involved, including Henry, Leah, and Abby. Henry even started decorating his face with the icing. Here we all are gathered around the table.

Finally, on the way home, we drove around Salem pond and looked at the lights. Abby said "Awesome!" more than once. Wish we'd been more prepared and wish it weren't so late so we could have gotten out and taken a walk. Perhaps next year!

Thanks to everyone who came and had a good time.

So sad we missed the annual house-or-whatever-floats-your-boat decorating night! It looks like you had a great time! Nice antenna guys!

The mobile home is a hoot! We've lived in too many in my lifetime.
I'm sure sorry that we couldn't be there to help celebrate but I appreciate all your efforts to have a good time and celebrate Christmas. I'm sure Kaitlin and Gillian were happy to have all of you up there.
Hopefully Jim will make it home safely with Ammon today!!

Kaitlin actually left before we started decorating. She had a white elephant gift exchange with the young women in the ward. -Jess

The day will come in not too many years that all family parties will be with out Mom, Dad, or both. Until then, whoop it up as much as possible.

I am really pleased that you all seemed to have a good time. Thanks Jess, for your report.
