My boys know money doesn't grow on trees. This morning we ran out of milk and Isaac said, "Milk gone? Buy more?" Mike (who isn't home for breakfast except Saturdays usually) asked, "Where will we get the money for milk?" Will said, "Go to work so you can get money and then buy some milk." Usually, one of the boys will ask where Mike is and I will say he is at work and then they ask why so I explain that we need money for things like clothes and food, etc. The boys have a money jar that they get to put money in. Mike will just put coins on the ground and then say, "Look! I found some money." Then the boys get so excited and run to get the money and put it in their jar. So when they find out Mike is at work Isaac will usually ask, "Money jar?" It's pretty cute to me.
Change of subject, what is everyone doing this week? We painted our dining room. I'll put pictures on my blog at some point. Other than that, we have had a busy week of doing nothing interesting. Monday was FHE, Tuesday was Will's dance class, Wed. Mike had church, tonight we might have a family over for dinner that is moving soon, and then I don't know what we are doing Fri. or Saturday. Sunday is my Primary Program.
We found cockroaches, (filthy creatures) in our garage and house. It makes me feel like a terrible house cleaner even though we aren't that dirty. More cluttery than dirty. Anyway, we have been taking the garbage out, washing and drying the dishes, sink, and counters, plugging the sinks, sweeping the floor, etc. every single night right before bed. Mike has been helping. We filled all the holes we could find inside and outside of our house (we had big holes into our house from when our house shifted), and put out cockroach poison. We have seen a few live ones in our house but mostly we just find dead ones. Still! If there are dead ones then there are live ones somewhere. It makes me feel so gross. Maybe this is a good thing that we are finding them so that we can be even cleaner.
What is everyone doing for Thanksgiving? Is Chelsey already listening to Christmas music? I refuse to listen to Christmas music until at least after Thanksgiving. There was a sale at Hobby Lobby last week--50% off of Christmas ornaments--so I sent Mike and the boys to buy an ornament each. Will chose this dancing reindeer. He had originally found a very manly one but it was broken so then he chose the dancing one with a tutu. Should I be worried? Then Isaac chose a gigantic dinosaur. Mike forgot about Eli and bought a huge blow fish for himself. Why is he buying himself an ornament? Anyway, our tree is going to look very interesting with these giant ornaments. I love the idea of sending our kids off with ornaments when they get married. Their wives are either going to love me or hate me. Maybe both. I'm not sure they are going to be so pleased with mexican peppers (Will's choice last year) and dancing reign deer. Anyway, I guess we have kind of started to celebrate Christmas.
There. I posted on this blog. I thought the blog was getting boring. Mike said it has been boring for about six months! Jerk. He can't say that because he doesn't post.

Yes, I'm listening to xmas music already -- AND SO IS JESS! He called and admitted to stopping the radio on the xmas channel already. So there! I'm not the only one. My kids love xmas music too! It's great as long as you have a variety to listen to. The same old songs get boring. Different artists and arrangements are good!
We let the kids pick out a new ornament each year too. I finally bought a little 3ft tree with silly lights to put in the family room for the kids. They get to decorate it however they want. Then I don't feel so bad about being as anal retentive as I am about MY tree in the living room. (I'm going to need a gate for the dog not to get to the tree huh!) I love, love love to decorate for xmas. It's the only holiday I really go all out for. Forget the presents - I spend it all on decor. It may seem silly to some, but it's really more about the feeling of xmas and not the presents anyway. My family likes it even if they tease me about it.
I refuse to do any Christmasy things until after Thanksgiving. Thanksgiving is one of my favorite holidays and we are letting it be eclipsed by the commercialization of Christmas. Let's take the time to celebrate good food, good company, and good football.
Dang it Chelsey, that was our secret! And I didn't listen to any last week in Hawaii. But when I drove in to work today, I did (guilty pleasure) stop on KOSY and listen to White Christmas.
GO JASON!!I'm sick of Christmas music already -- my co-worker has been listening to it all day long for two weeks already. It's one thing when she is at her desk, but she is usually only there an hour or two a day - and we are stuck listening to HER choice, not ours. So yesterday I listened to Pandora - anything but Christmas. I want to enjoy Thanksgiving first. Bah, humbug or not, I like Thanksgiving and I hate the commercialism of Christmas. It's like professional basketball that just doesn't know when to quit -- it goes on and on and on. Enough already - let's have a break!
Mom - I guess I'm back on the blog.
