Have a great time. London is a blast. Make sure to go to Notting Hill. They have great markets there. I also like the London Eye, but that's pretty expensive just to get some great pictures of the city. Go do the tower bridge and museum. I also like the pedestrian bridge. Don't waste your time trying to find the London bridge. It's now just a regular boring bridge. The real thing is now in Arizona. Get ready to fork out some serious money though because the exchange rate is horrible!!! I wish you guys could come to Germany while you're out here. You'll love London. By the way, take the train to Windsor Castle. It's an hour train ride and totally worth it!!!

Wow! I think it's great that you don't have to do the touristy thing and follow the crowd along all day. This should be so much more fun.
I believe this is exactly the break and rest you need right now. You both work very hard and it will be nice to have a great vacation.
Do you have specific plans in mind as to what you will see and do on your free time?

Michelle will tell you this trip is really for me. That means that have been planning where we will be going. I have been trying to keep the spending down to the bear minimum so free things like the British Museum and the Tate Museum are pretty high on the list. Michelle's Uncle lives in Oxford so we will probably be going out there for a day. We are staying about 0.5 miles from Buckingham palace so I hope to see the changing of the guards and then continue on through the palace grounds to Westminster Abbey. Westminster Abbey will cost us 10 pounds each but I think it will be worth it. I am still planning the trip so everything is pretty fluid. The best way to get around seems to be either by the underground or by bike. If I can find somewhere to rent bikes, I would do it in a heart beat. I am just grateful that I am not paying for this trip. With the exchange rate what it is, we would have to sell our house to make this trip.

Jason,

The best way to get around would be the Tube. It's clean and takes you EVERYWHERE!! It's great, plus you can buy a day pass for unlimited rides and it's very afforable. And, if you do the tube, you'll get to see more things in the time you are there because it's much faster than a bike. The westminster abby is definately worth the money.

I agree with using the tube for every transportation you can. Just remember to use the left side everywhere -- including sidewalks. I saw Les Mis the first time at Her Royal Majesty's theater. It was really cool to catch a show in the theater there. Westminster Abby will definitely be worth your money! There's some beautiful things in there. I think Dante and Napoleon are buried there also. There's a lot of famous graves there. Kensignton gardens are beautiful too. Hopefully they'll be in bloom for you. London has great parks to stroll through. Your trip will be nice and relaxing -- especially if you can manage the jet lag. Have a GREAT time!
