Scott's Surgery

Scott is home now doing well watching Sesame Street. He told me that the house is too loud and wonders why. I told him this is how it feels to hear. The TV is turned way down, it is amazing how quiet he has it.
His surgery was only 15 minutes. The recovery was an hour. Now he's home eating McDonalds breakfast, as requested. He wanted scrambled eggs with sausage.
The anesthesiologist bet Scott that he couldn't count to 10 when being put under and if he could he'd pay him $1.00 Scott counted to 11 and when in recovery he remembered and told him..
The anesthesiologist was so impressed that he counted that high and that he remembered it so he paid him the $1.00 Too funny.
Here are some pictures from the morning.
Picture up top: Dr. Marlan Hansen, Jason's boss, and Scott
Bottom Picture: Scott being wheeled out of the recovery. Left to Right, 2 people that we don't know that stood in the picture that were just in the hallway, then his nurse is in the grey sweater, her name was Ann, then our Anesthesiologist with the happy face hat on.

Wow, are we ever out of the loop...

Glad to hear Scott's surgery went well. I'm assuming his hearing was suspect? And now is fine? -Jess

Welcome to the world of noise Scotty! There just might be a day when you wish you didn't have to hear anything! I'm glad the surgery went well. They put in tubes right? We're debating that with Jake's ears right now. He's always got an infection. He's had one everytime he gets a cold. The pictures look great!

Dad filled me in on some of the details and I'm glad to hear (hah, no pun intended) that you guys have easy access to an ear doctor/surgeon! I wasn't aware Scott had been having any problems, so I was surprised to hear that he was in surgery. Just glad to hear is wasn't some botox injection in his lips...

But, like Chelsey said, I'm sure there will be days when he thinks he wish he couldn't hear so much with all his brothers and sister running around.

There's been so much going on lately that I'd fill pages of blog if I listed them all. Seriously didn't mean to leave anyone out, I just haven't posted in a while. Caleb had surgery on his toe on Tuesday, it was badly infected and the doctor's suspected it was an ingrown toenail leading to the nasty looking infection, so after a month of antibiotics and still an ugly toe he had a good portion of the nail and all the of infection removed. Then Scott's surgery for getting tubes in his ears kinds snuck up on us. We were being squeezed in between other surgeries since we were trying to get this done and since we know the surgeon he scheduled us today before any of the other surgeries. Scott has had speech therapy for 3 years and our regular doctor never caught on that there was excessive fluid in there. Scott one day mentioned to Jason's boss, Marlan the ear surgeon that he didn't feel good and his ears hurt. Marlan took a look and told us that Scott most likely needed tubes in there, then after another couple weeks he checked Scott again and sure enough he still had tons of fluid. So the decision was made to have this done. During the surgery today Marlan said that Scott had a very thick fluid, almost sticky and there is no way his ears would clear by themselves so it's a great thing that he got this surgery. I'm so glad we know Marlan.

Post a photo of Caleb, too, if you have a photo. Is he still in great pain? Jason said Caleb didn't think the pain medication was working.
I'm glad you were able to get all this done but I know it must be stressful right around Christmas time.
Best of luck to both boys!

I was confused when I saw that Scott was having surgery. Mom told me Caleb was. I'm glad to hear they are both doing well.
