Barcelona

The top left pic is a view of Barcelona from Parc Guell. The top right picture was taken at Parc Guell and was one of the many mosaic pieces there. Parc Guell was designed and built by the Spanish sculptor Antoni Gaudi. The bottom left picture is of a smart car. I actually saw one here in Iowa City the other day. I would feel like the Cat in the Hat driving one of those. Finally, the bottom right picture is of La Sacrada Familia. It was also designed by Antoni Gaudi. Construction began in 1888 and continues on to this day. The projected date of completion is 2020. There will be 12 spires (8 exist today) when it is finished representing the 12 apostles. The building is incredibly detailed with nearly every surface sculpted. I have additional pictures that I will post later. Barcelona is a beautiful city with a lot to see.

The tourist pic is funny. I'm sure there's many who feel that way about American tourists especially.

1888 to 2020 sound a lot like some of the highway project timelines around here...

I want a Smart Car!! I saw them in Germany and decided right then that I wanted one of them. Think of the money I would save driving to work every day! I actually saw a real one in Provo a few months ago and nearly drove off the road while I was staring at the Smart Car. They are so incredibly tiny.
The cathedral is absolutely gorgeous!
Post more. I love Europe.

I thought only the old Gothic was gaudy. So did you visit the sight of the release of the longest and most important pigeon race in the world? The winner gets a car and lots of money. The bird itself becomes sellable for over fifty thousand dollars. Not a bad prize.
