The following is one paragraph of today's letter to Elder Dave. I thought you all might find it interesting. I told him some other things about the Doeschots, too. Like when Chelsey was the flower girl at Arvin Doeschot wedding. The paragraph:
Is the area you work in now mostly just Dutch. I assume it is not Catholic, but rather the main protestant religion in Holland. By the way, what church is that? You do not know this, but we lived in an area in Nebraska that was almost all Dutch. The neighbors were Doeschots, Dedans, DeBoers, Essinks, Hueninks, TerMaats, Bouwens, Eskeys, Wissinks, Wubbels, Vanderbeeks, and many others. We loved them. There were five Dutch Reformed Churches in the surrounding area. People went to church, too. When the Sabbath came the combines and the tractors stopped and the churches looked just like a ward house surrounded with cars and pickups. Little did we know that our son would one day be in Holland. In fact, the town just a couple of miles west of our farm had the name of Holland. There was also a town called Firth close by. I think that is a Dutch name also.
