You've got water problems?

My time spent recently in Dad's attic may be a blessing in disguise after all. No, I'm not referring to the weight lost while sweating in the sweltering heat. We have some new neighbors who moved in less than two weeks ago. I met them on Sunday at church. During the All Star Game last night (ugh...what a letdown my choking NL has been for a decade now), they came over asking for some help with water problems. They had water leaking through their master bedroom ceiling and guessed it was coming from their swamp cooler. They had no idea how to turn off the water to their swamp cooler and why it was leaking. I climbed on their roof to find the hole and to see if the leak was up there, climbed in their attic and saw water dripping through the hole in the roof, figured out where the copper pipe went, found their water shut-off, and temporarily patched their roof hole. Turns out there is a leak in their copper water pipe that occurs right around the same area it enters the attic. So, hopefully, we'll cut that tonight and replace it with some new copper.

I missed innings 4 through 8 of the All Star game and still saw all the scoring. It was awfully depressing coming back inside and watching Trevor Hoffman (2nd in career saves!) choke and give up two runs in the top of the ninth with 2 outs!

How did they know you knew stuff about water leaks? Do they live right by you or did someone tell them you knew something about it. That is pretty lucky that you had just helped dad.

I think they were grasping at straws and I was the short one. Actually, I think I was the only one they felt like they could ask. Good thing I know a thing or two about swamp coolers, eh?
