Today, I had to walk across the river for a meeting at 3 pm. Right before I left my lab, I looked out the window and noticed the wind blowing. Knowing it was hot outside, I was grateful for the wind - at least until I felt it while crossing the river. It felt like someone had turned a hair dryer to the highest and hottest setting and pointed it right in my face. By the time I got to my meeting, I needed a shower and dry clothes. Supposedly the temperature topped 110 degrees with humidity factored in today. I am sick and tired of this weather. The weather guy on channel 9 says that we still have at least one more day of this before a cold front (temps in the high 80's, I'm sure) moves in.
As you can tell, not much exciting is happening in our lives. Not that I am complaining, mind you. Exciting in our house usually translates to expensive, as in medical bills.
Mike and Adrianne, congratulations on little Isaac. The video clip was great.

Oh, maybe you'll soon get what we're getting now. Yesterday afternoon, the clouds rolled in, the rain started coming, and the wind picked up. I got home from work and we opened up all the windows to allow a great cross-ventilation. I love natural cooling, not this manufactured air we typically get.
This morning, it was 63 degrees on my drive to work with a high today of 84 they're saying. We got a bunch of rain an hour or so ago. It's fantastic! We struggled through a very warm July, but August sure is looking good so far. My sprinklers get to take a break for a few days!
We have struggled through a rough April, May, June, July and now Aug. We are getting a "cold" front as well with temperatures still in the 90's. It has only rained a few days since April and been consistantly in the 90's or above since then. I am sorry for Lindsey and no air conditioning...Mike says it usually isn't that hot in Germany so maybe it will get better soon.
Actually, it has gotten better. The whole month of July (with the exception of the last two days of the month) was in the 90's and 100's. I thought I would die if Aug. continued like that. However, starting on the 30th of July, it has become quite cool, windy, cloudy and rainy...typical Germany weather. Today has been cold enough to wear a jacket all day. It's a nice change, but I'm scared that it's already getting this cold this fast. Isn't it weird how fast you want the hot weather back? Cold weather freaks me out more than hot does. Especially German cold! I don't think I'll ever be satisfied until I live in Hawaii.
Boy, then you'll be bored with the weather. Won't you get tired of 85 for a hi and 68 for a low, every day!?
Okay, I'm not sure I would either. Take me with you!
You wimps haven't even had a whole summer of it yet. I cannot even count the number of days that mother put up with hot weather and being pregnant. I am not negating in anyway the difficulty, only thinking of the wonderful sacrifices that your mother made for so many years. I love her for it! Also, you should try a 2 1/2 year mission in the Philippines. I never once used even a blanket to sleep. I took cold showers. I wrote longhand letters that were wet from sweat off my arm every time I did it. It was tough, so I know what you girls are going through. More power to you!
