I just got done performing at the library. The librarian asked if I would perform for the patrons and a group of kids. I'm supposed to perform next Wed. too. They just told me to sing what ever I wanted. I don't like when I'm given so many choices. I didn't know what would be approriate for kids. I finally decided to sing songs of all types. Kids now-a-days are only being exposed to trashy r&b songs with horrible lyrics, so I figured my stuff was much better. What happened to the good songs from the 1930's and 40's? Those were the best songs ever written in my opinion. Anyway, they had brought a portible piano in for me to play for myself. I was hoping I could find a pianist to play for me, but I don't know anyone in this area yet. So, I was limited as to what I could perform. I sang for about 20 minutes. I chose songs like: Can't Help Lovin' Dat Man, O! Man River, Oh Shenandoah, Swing Low Sweet Chariot, Tenderly, Soft, and a few others. I decided to close my set with a church song that no one would know. I wanted to put a plug in for Heavenly Father :). I told them if it wasn't for my Heavenly Father, I wouldn't be blessed with my talent to sing and play the piano. So, I sang Come Unto Him. I don't care what they thought. I just hope someone felt the spirit. I don't know why I did it, I just felt like it was appropriate. Thank you to Gillian and Kaitlin for preparing all that music for me. I will use those songs next week. They are great! I got them in the mail yesterday. If anyone else has a suggestion as to what I should sing next week, please let me know. Thanks!

I once sang Jesus wants me for a Sunbeam, Popcorn Popping, and Give Said the little Stream for a group of Daycare children in a Mom's group. Also the fun activity songs like Head Shoulders Knees and Toes and When your happy and you know it, and things like that. I guess it depends on how old the people are that you are signing for. Josh Grobin (sp.?) songs might be appropriate. I think that they will be so taken with your voice that they won't care what you sing as long as you sing. You may get asked to sing longer and longer. By the way Lindsey, what is your address again, somehow between last week's craziness around here I lost it. Sorry about that.

I sing "I am a Child of God" to Will every night. I think that is a perfect song to sing to kids. You could sing Natalie Cole songs. Those are so fun to sing or I also have a fun CD for Will with songs like "Do the bunny hop" or "Twist and Shout." I'm not sure if you are looking for songs to sing that they listen to or songs that they join in with. That opens up lots of different opportunities. One of Abby and Will's favorite songs is the crocodile song. That's one all kids would love.

The kids ages are 11-14, so I don't think the normal primary songs will work. I thought about that though. If they were younger, I would definately do that.

Here's my address Michelle:
