This is for mom and dad.
Next time you need to catch a skunk follow these simple instructions given to me by an Airman from Louisiana:
Fill a large garbage can half full of water. Cover the can opening with a few sheets of newspaper. Hang a piece of food over the center of the garbage can. Place a stick or piece of wood leading to the top of the can.
The skunk will climb the stick/wood and try to get the food, fall through the newspaper, and drown in the water. The smell will all be in the water, and you just have to dump it out into the drain.
Be sure to put up signs warning other people who might be tempted to try to eat the food. Oh how sad to find a dead neighbor in the bottom of your garbage can the morning after trying to catch a skunk.

Hey, at least the neighbor wouldn't stink...thanks for the tip.
Thanks for the tip -- we'll remember it if we ever TRY to catch a skunk. We don't have draines in Elk Ridge -- it might go into someone's drinking water down below us. That would be funny! This might have been cool had our old neighbors still been living here, huh.
Sad? I guess that depends on the neighbor.
