This One's for You, Jess!

We went to the Field of Dreams farm today. The weather was absolutely perfect with a wind blowing that was cool and refreshing. Jim was in 7th heaven. This movie is one of his favorites and he really wanted to go. As soon as we stopped the car Ammon said, "Mom, is this heaven?" with a sly grin on his face. I replied, "No, it's Iowa."
As you can see here, the kids thought this was going to be totally boring. That didn't deter the adults. I ran Ammon around the bases as fast as I could. Brenden went out and began to play catch with Jason. Pretty soon, one by one, the kids became involved and we had a great time tossing the ball.

It was surreal to be there. I found myself wondering how this particular farm was decided upon to film the movie. It's about 75 miles from Iowa City in the middle of nowhere in particular.

While we were there the weather was perfect - a gorgeous day. We hadn't traveled 15 miles before coming upon ugly weather with sheets of rain pouring down on us and hail hitting the cars. It was a scary drive home. I'm so glad it held off so we could have fun in nice weather.

The grass is so green. The first picture is hilarous, I am glad they realized they could have fun there.

That is AWESOME! So glad you guys went up there. Someday...

Speaking of green grass: when they filmed the movie, they didn't have time to tear up a living corn field, put in an outfield, and have it all green. Apparently, the grass they put in died and they ended up spray painting the field green for filming.

The farm and field are now up for sale if you've got a chunk of change! -Jess

It's only 2 million dollars. That's chump change.
