A Little Validation

Two days ago I tried to clock in at work and it wouldn't accept my password. I tried for two days. OIT techies got involved. They discovered yesterday afternoon that I had been terminated by HR (Human Resources). The OIT guys called to verify that I was legitimate and so HR "re-hired" me. As a result of this action, I sent the e-mail I received telling me about this to Tim Hill, the manager of Travel and Purchasing.

Tim just called me and said the reason I had been terminated was because I am now considered administrative rather than staff. Which means that I will only get one check a month - oh, that will be a killer until we get through the first month. It also means that I should get a raise that is part of a new level at work.

Let's just say that 9 years and lots of experience has finally paid off. I feel a little validated.

Yeah! Sounds like a good thing! Now you'll have to be extra careful with that once a month check to stretch it out! It's about time they noticed you've been employee of the year for the last 9 years... Sheesh. Some people are a little slow... ;)

Congrats mom! You deserve it!

I'm glad you were re-hired today! That's so much better than being permanently fired. Congrats on the raise.

Me on the other hand found out 2nd hand that one of the gyms I teach fitness classes at is closing in 2 weeks so I will be out 5 classes a week.

Super bummed out about this. The owner still hasn't told me herself. So I guess I was fired (kind of) fitness world bites big time.

Oh, Michelle -- I'm really sorry you will be losing those classes! I called and told Jim that I had, in fact, been terminated. He was really quiet on the other end -- in fact, he didn't say anything for a while because I think he was trying to figure out what on earth we would do. And then he said, "Well, what does that mean?" And then I broke the news. He was definitely relieved and it was kind of mean of me to leave him hanging.... :)

That was mean. That sounds like something I would do. Congratulations on the raise.
