A Happy Day

Today was as very nice day - it almost made up for being a birthday making me one year older. Gillian and Amy kind of spearheaded a dinner tonight. Amy brought some yummy chili which was a great choice for such a chilly day. Gillian made her cheese/bean dip and brought a Snickers cake that was to die for. (I probably will die of a heart attack by eating it but it would be a lovely way to die by eating that thing.) This decade is proving to be difficult for me. I'm not yet where I would call myself old or elderly but I'm getting there. I find that there are many worries in my mind about the future. I think by the time I get into my 70s I will have figured this out and I will be willing to say, "Ok, I've had a good life so come and get me. I'm ready to go." I'm definitely not ready to go yet. My knees feel old but my heart and mind don't so guys, I'm officially not old......not yet.

It was wonderful to talk to all of you, hear people sing, hear a birthday song on the piano and hear all the good wishes and "I love yous." I can never get enough of those. I loved the flowers, the hair products and the bread knife. You guys are all awesome!

Jim gave me a great gift yesterday -- he fixed our broken dryer and it works like a charm. It was hard for his arthritic fingers to get it done, but it's done. I told him that was all I wanted for my birthday. He did a great job! I helped him put in the screws and finish the project up and then said, "We aren't so good alone anymore, but we're still a darn good pair when we both work together."

It was a happy day!
