What have you been reading?

My sister asked this question recently and it was interesting to see what everyone's answers were. So, what have you read in the past few months and/or what are you currently reading? What did you think of the stuff you read?

I am reading Uncle Toms Cabin by Harriet Beecher Stowe right now..I have been reading it since January..so I am going kinda slow. Most people have been required to read it in school at some point but I never did. I am going to finish if off soon and then go to another classic. Great book though!

I haven't read nearly as many as I would like since Christmas - before Christmas I read "Hunger Games" and "Catching Fire" by Suzanne Collins. Absolutely loved them!!
I am currently working on "Jesus the Christ" - but very slowly.
I also read "The Last Patriot" by Brad Thor and it was interesting - good spy kind of thriller. Jim just finished it.

Just started "Look Again". It is really good so far. It's about a mom who adopted a child and years later sees her child's picture on a missing child flyer. She's trying to figure out if her kid is in fact this missing child or not, and what happens now. Do you give him back? She's the only parent he remembers! Interesting so far, and clean (so far!)

Hunger Games, Suzanne Collins

Catching Fire, Suzanne Collins

The Road, Cormac McCarthy

Who Killed Health Care?, Regina Hertzlinger

All great books, although the majority of my reading lately has been in my marketing, HR management, and program planning books this semester. Darn school!

I just finished "The Last Patriot" also - as in two days ago. It was pretty good but not as good as a Vince Flynn book. I also just finished a Clive Cussler book (I don't remember the name although it was remarkably similar in context to "The Last Patriot"). There are three other books on my end table that I slowly and methodically go through. "Guns, Germs, and Steel" by Jared Diamond, "The Popes" by I don't remember, and "A History of Christianity" again by I don't remember.

One of my favorite things to do is to sit down in a quiet house on a lazy Saturday afternoon with a new book. The anticipation of a good read is almost as fun as the read itself.

I want to read Guns, Germs, and Steel, but haven't gotten around to it.

I read "The Holy Secret" recently. Jen read "The Great and the Terrible" series recently. Other than Jacob and Mosiah, though, I ain't doing much reading these days.

I recently read Glen Beck's Arguing with Idiots and almost finished his Common Sense, but then I got distracted. They were both good-- AWIs is a lot more fun than CS.
I've read a couple of fantasy novels--Pawn of Prophecy and ... something about a queen. They're part of a series. I've really enjoyed them. They're geared towards young adults, and so are clean and easy to read.
I also read History of Joseph Smith by His Mother. I enjoyed it and learned a lot of things I didn't know. I finished a critical history of Joseph Smith entitled, Know Man Knows My History. It's not pleasant and I don't recommend reading it unless you feel obligated to do so. Along with that I have been reading responses to many of the criticisms the author makes. These are found at www.fairlds.org -- which is a pretty good resource.
I recently received the seven volume History of the Church as well as the smaller Comprehensive History of the Church. I'm almost done with the first volume of CHoC. It's been very interesting to me.
I've also done a bit of reading for all my school work. I've read about the history of the soviet nuclear weapons program, a '93 Office of Technology Assessment report on proliferation of weapons of mass destruction, and a book on the physics of nuclear weapons. I’ve also done a bit of reading on various tools used to characterize materials—I was going to list them, but they won’t mean anything to most of you, except the MRI. I now know the principles upon which they work.
I wrote a report on how quickly Iran could get a nuclear weapon, and so had to do a bit of reading on that as well.
I've got the 12 remaining history books, 3 volumes of "Doctrinal New Testament Commentary", and 2 volumes of "Your study of the new testament made easy." Plus, I'd like to read the others in that fantasy series. I've always got other stuff to read for school, too...

Mike,

Have you read The Belgariad? It is a series by David Eddings. If you haven't, check it out. You would probably really like it.

Jason--That's the one I was talking about. I just forgot the name. I do really like it. I think the story is interesting and there is a good amount of humor throughout.
