Ammon and Jared

Today was a busy day. I didn't go to work because I thought Allen's daughter, Shawn, was coming to stay with us. They changed their minds for today but will be here sometime tomorrow. We also had an appointment with the wound management team at PCMC at 2:00 this afternoon. Jared opted to stay home while Jim and I went to SLC.

It has been decided by the team, Dr. Scaife and ourselves (not Ammon) that he will have surgery on the 24th of June to remove his g-tube and close up the hole. As you can see from the picture below, Ammon is drinking and doing well enough that we feel it is safe to get rid of the g-tube until the site is healed. It didn't look any better to the team today so we'll try this. I admit I'm nervous because it could be dangerous for Ammon to be without that tube. We can (and probably will) put in a new button once everything is healed. But for now, Ammon is drinking a lot and trying new, soft foods.

When we got home, we gave Jared a choice as to where he wanted to eat out. I believe his family takes birthday kids out to dinner so we wanted to honor that tradition. He chose to go to Parley's Place in Salem. Probably because of the milk shakes. You can make any kind of shake imaginable. He chose a chocolate peanut butter shake and it was HUGE!

Jared diving in before the rest of his food arrived.
Showing how long the spoon is.
We all got the loaded footlong. It is one of the best hot dogs on the earth! You have to eat it with a fork and knife. Oh yummmmm.... None of us could totally finish our meal.

I'll bet that milkshake brings all the boys to the restaurant.

Thanks for taking such good care of Jared.
We will have Ammon in our prayers.
