Geo quiz

This one is actually pretty easy.  There is one particular clue that gives it away if you are paying attention.

Have fun!

I know the answer ... it is European but I won't disclose my answer yet to elongate the fun. I didn't even look at any reference information! There is one clue that gave it away for me.

Alyssa got it with a little prodding. There are actually two pretty obvious clues if you know where to look. And yes, it is European.

pretty easy... I fly out of there this past October!

The clue I used was the "Eye" and the shadow it cast. The density and building style clued me in to Europe, but I didn't know which European city it was until I thought: "Hmmm...where has Jason been that would cause him to post this?" Then I started looking for the Eye and I found it.

The Eye is one of two of the clues. The other is also a shadow on the river.

Is this the Thames River?

Yes, it is the Thames River. Jason, the other shadow is barely (!) discernible from the jpeg you posted. If you go to GMaps and look there, it's easily visible but, wow, no way I would have picked out the bridge shadow (assuming that's what you're talking about).

I've never been to this city but I think I'd love to give it a visit!

I'm lost - Thames means London to me but I don't think it is there. I can't see an "eye" anywhere. ??

It is London. The London Eye is a huge ferris wheel right on the river. It is obviously morning there because the sun is casting the shadow of the Eye to the west onto the river. The other clue that Jess mentioned is indeed barely visible in this image (the original image I chose was better). It is the Tower Bridge.
I love London. It is a beautiful city full of history.

For your additional information, due west of the eye, you can see two parks. The first, smaller, park is St. James Park with Buckingham Palace in the middle and the 2nd, larger park is Hyde Park with Kennsington Gardens on the west side of the park. The body of water that is visible in Hyde Park is called the Serpentine and is where the Olympic Triathlon was held last year. About 1/2 mile to the northwest of Hyde Park is Portobello Rd (of Bedknobs and Broomsticks fame). It is filled with little shops along the whole road just like in the movie. For you Harry Potter fans, due north of the big bend in the Thames from north to east just beyond the Eye and toward the top of the image is Kings Cross railway station.

Chad took one look at it and said, "That's London. That is the Thames river." I would not have gotten that so fast. It took him less than five seconds.
