Valentine's Day

I haven't been the goddess of domestiscity lately. At the end of the day all I want is to find a bed where I can rest my weary head. Jim has been very patient, helping figure out what to get for dinner and often doing the dshes. We have opened a lot of cans of soup and we've had more than our share of sandwiches in the past three months. Cooking is the last thing I want to think about. Jim is always begging me to make a pie. I just laugh at him. But tonight, I couldn't think of a better way to express my love and appreciation for my 43 year companion than to bake him a cherry pie. I don't think I've baked a cherry pie for years and years and years! His face lit up like a light bulb when he saw the hearts on the pie. He got my message and he appreciated it.

I'm now going to bed. He can eat all the pie he wants. It's for Valentine's Day. For the rest of you, I only have enough energy to say: I LOVE ALL OF YOU!! (Now go to bed, everybody.)

P.S. I love you, Jim Bob. Thanks for putting up with all my oddities over the years.

Aw, thats sweet mom. Good job. Even though I dont like cherries, it looks really good! One thing I will never forget is how special you made valentines day for us growing up. I dont know if you did the same thing for the older kids but you always made candy bar posters for us and I loved that. You also wrote us notes and made heart shaped pancakes. Thanks for the memories. Love you too!

I was thinking the same thing Gilly. I loved those candy bar posters. That was the only good part about V-day growing up. I loved those and the letters you would write to us each individually, mom. I have decided to start doing that for my kids. This was the first year I've done anything for them and just seeing their faces this morning when they woke up and found their letters and treats, totally made my day! So, Hans can screw it up and I'll still be happy because my kids know how much I love them. :)

I love you mom and dad. Happy V-Day everyone.

You have no idea just how good it is. And there is still more to eat. It only shows how great a valentine Chris really is. She was tired and she offered to make the pie without any effort from me. It was totally out of love. I am so lucky.

I love your mother! She is the whole point of my life. Last night sitting eating supper together I looked around and noticed the empty table that used to have so many wonderful kids around it. But even at that, now I have the total pleasure of looking at and concentrating on that wonderful woman that actually said she wanted to be with me forever. Wow! If part of forever is now, then I love forever. Knowing it will always be here and now brings me great joy. She is part of my forever: your mother, my companion, my friend, my lover.
