Saturday's Funeral

This is the picture from the funeral of my first cousin, Martha Tanner. She died during the week. She was ninety-five years old. I knew Martha fairly well and had been to her home many times. She lived in Payson. She did a lot of family history, wrote some poetry, and raised six kids. Those kids are all your second cousins.

Martha was an Ashby. My mother and her father (Tom) were siblings. They were the children of Samuel and Emma Ashby.

Her funeral was wonderful, mostly because was she was wonderful. She sang, she wrote, she had a great sense of humor, and her work in family history was very important.

Her husband died at age 95 about five months ago. He and Matha in their younger years ran the furniture store in Payson.

I just wanted you all to know of her, even though you have never even heard of her. You have lots of great cousins. I have only met them in recent years because I lived away most of my life. Most of my first cousins are now dead. I am the second to the youngest of the first cousins.

This is a nice post, Jim. You did a good job with the set-up. Guess you are going to have to show me how you did it because I haven't been able to make any changes in the formatting for a long time.
