Races

This last weekend, I directed the 2nd annual North Dodge Athletic Club Indoor Triathlon. It was a huge success. We had 49 competitors and will be hitting our goal of donating $500 to the Ronald McDonald House of Iowa City. Last year, we only had 21 people race and donated $175. Overall, I was very pleased with the event. There is always little hiccups but by and large everything went smoothly and the feedback has been very positive.

With this experience, I am going to be branching out this year. I am in the planning stages of a 5 and 10K that we are tentatively calling the Rolling Rohret Run. Rolling because it is hilly and Rohret because that is the name of the road. The principal of the elementary school on Rohret road has already put her support behind the race. I now need to approach the Sheriff's office and begin the permit process. There are a lot of details that will need to be ironed out but I am hoping that things will progress smoothly. A friend of mine owns a running store in the area and has directed a couple of races so I have been running my ideas past him. He thinks I have a good thing so I am going for it.

The race will be on Labor day and you are all invited to take part. Proceeds from this race will benefit SIDS research at the University of Iowa.

I really appreciate you donating money to the SIDS research in Iowa. That means a lot to me. I enjoyed the pictures you guys posted of the event this past weekend.

I think this indoor triathlon is such a cool idea. I think it's pretty cool that you're organizing these events and wish we could participate. -Jess
