I have to give the R.S. lesson a week from Sunday. It's on the conference talk given by Elder Dallin H. Oaks this last October General Conference. It's titled "Two Lines of Communication". Do any of you remember this talk? Well, I read it over today and I have to say I'm completely stuck. I don't know what direction I want to go with teaching it. I hate to say this, but it could be a boring lesson if I can't figure something out. It's a good talk, but kind of hard to teach. Any suggestions? Keep in mind that I'm not Chelsey, Adrianne, or Gillian (well, and all my sister-in-laws for that matter)...aka, I'm not crafty at all. That's not a talent I possess. So, if you're thinking cute handouts, I'm not your girl. But I could use a good idea for an attention getter or just something to keep their attention and quite frankly, how to even teach this one.

I'll call you tomorrow. I don't do "cute" things, either. I'm not crafty and it takes more of my time than I want to spend.
First of all, I'm not crafty either. Second of all, I don't do handouts.
I don't always do handouts, but sometimes I do because I've been told its good for people to have something to see about the lesson when they go home. Kind of a reminder of sorts. That said, handouts should NEVER be complicated or take too much time. That's not what the lesson is about. Our stake rs pres just gave this lesson and did a great job. I'll send you an email with some of the things we talked about.
Chelsey, that would be great! Thanks.
Adrianne, I hope you didn't take offense by what I said. It wasn't meant to be offensive. If anything, it was meant to be the opposite. I wish I had the talent you guys have to make things look cute. I don't think anything is wrong with handouts either. I just don't ever do them because I can't ever think of what to hand out.
Lindsey, no offense. That's the problem with the internet, it's hard to know what tone the comment is in. I was joking. I'm not crafty and I don't do handouts but I didn't mean to make you think I was upset by you say I might. I was saying it in a kidding way. I'm flattered you think I can make things cute. I've tricked you.

lol I saw motley crew and I thought hard rock! Thanks for letting me enjoy a pleasant glimpse of your world through your eyes! See you around!
I had already posted this once a few days ago I thought, but then it was gone and then I remember that my computer got unplugged right before I finished so I lost the commment and was going to come back to it. Anyway what I did say was Lindsey I'm not good at lessons. I had that calling for about a year and did okay. Sometimes the lessons went fast and wonderful, other times I struggled through them, so I really don't have have any fun ideas for you. But I will say this my best lessons were when I asked lots of questions to the group of women. When I had their participation a lot then the lesson went rather well. I ask as many questions as I can to keep the lesson going.
