Fun Day of Learning

I reserved this day for photo shooting. Jim, Ammon and I made arrangements to go up to Jess and Jen's and decided that we would go take some photos together so he could teach me how to use an SLR better than I had been able to do. But first we went to the Provo boat harbor. I had read in the paper that when we had a day last week with horrendous wind, the ice on Utah Lake broke up into big chunks and nearly killed a man fishing from the dock. Jim wanted to release his pigeons and this was a good place to go. It was an awesome place to take photos but we only had a few minutes so I quickly took some with my little camera. The chunks were stacked up on top of each other and were far above my head. In the photo above, it is difficult to tell where the clouds, snow-covered mountains and ice chunks begin and end.

Here's a little better view off to the west. I had climbed up on some of the chunks to see over the pile.

Jess took us to Wheeler Farm. We had never been there but it was a great place to get some photos of ducks, geese, farm animals and rustic farm equipment. It turned out to be quite chilly but we enjoyed all the things to look at. There were few quaint looking ducks with poodle heads. We got a kick out of them. Jess -- put your photos on of your ducks because they are stunning.

I was able to get a shot of this colorful turkey through chicken wire without the wire being the focus. This was just a practice shot to see if I could do it.

What a cheeky kid!

I took this one on campus the other day. The clouds were remarkable. This was just south of the Bean Museum.
