Please, call me JT

Remember when y'all were making fun of my name being confused by a girls'? Remember how I was called Jessica all growing up? Remember when Dan Pope, while showing my photos on the news called me a she? Remember when Adam called me "Jesser Arafat" and sang to me "Jess is a girl!" instead of "Jessie's Girl?" Remember how when I was a TA in college for an accounting class I had students emailing me questions and one guy hit on me? He'd never met me but said (and I quote), "Jess is the name hot girls have." He asked me my specs and I responded "I'm 6'3" and 205." (What did he expect? 38-26-38? I don't even know what those mean. Is that Barbie-like?) Remember how I recently called a company I'd ordered something for online and the guy said, "Are you Jess' husband?" I said, "Well, actually, in this case, Jess is a man's name. I'm Jess."

Well, to pour salt on an open wound, I came across a blog called "The Clarks" and guess what the URL is? http://adamandjessclark.blogspot.com. Guess who the authors are? Adam and Jess Clark, a married couple. Guess who the girl is in this relationship? Jess. And guess what? They're LDS and live in Provo/Orem or something and go to BYU. Of course. Who else blogs these days besides Mormons?

I think I'm going to start going by my middle name. Or my initials. Please call me JT from now on. At least that alludes to a good baseball player in the Giants organization the last time they were good.

Blame your dad for your name -- not me! We had a long argument over it. We finally compromised. He wanted to name you Jesse. I thought that was even more girly. I didn't want the name Jess at all. But it was either Jess or Heber. I compromised with Jess.

Oh Jess, you're funny. I say, as long as Jen doesn't mind who cares?

My history teacher in high school called roll one morning (our first day in his class) and instead of calling out Chelsey, he asked if "Chesty Clark" was there. Seriously one of the most embarrassing moments ever. I think every person in the room had their eyes on my boobs-- or lack there of in my case! And then there's the gal that thought my name was "Cheesy Clark" because she couldn't read my "L" in my signature. Good grief. At least you still have Clark to rely on!

We won't even get into my last name!! At least my last name isn't as bad as one girl in my ward. She just married a guy with the last name Schmooky. No joke.

JT, like Justin Timberlake? He's pretty girly. Maybe I'm a mean parent too because two of my children have names that go either way.

Mom, for some reason, reading your comment doesn't make me feel any better. I'm the compromise. That's why Jen married me, too. :(

:) Jess, er, JT. Or Thomas. Or Tom.

Oh my gosh, I just clicked on the URL and realized that this is the blog of a girl that I graduated with at UVU. I was in a lot of classes with her. Very nice person. Did well in the program. Ha ha!!
