you might be interested in knowing

My laptop computer, which happens to be our only computer in the house right now except for Caleb's (which is only for his use since he bought it and put it together)
is not working correctly.

I have had all kinds of error messages daily. It's never the same problem.

The main thing I can't figure out is this:

When I click on some of your websites, not everyones, but some of them I get an error message that says the following:

A huge red X appears, then next to it it says Internet Explorer cannot open internet site __________________________ then it puts the address of whatever blog I had clicked on

then underneath that it says Operation Aborted. Then it shuts down their blog from my view.

The blogs this is happening to is:

Chelsey's blog, Dave and Tana's blog, Gillian's Blog, my sister's blog, a couple of my other friend's blogs.

At first this used to only happen once in a great while, then it only happened to Gillian's, so I had deleated her blog from our blog list and then re-entered it and it still happened.

the only time I can get on any of these "forbidden blogs" (according to my computer) is by accessing them from either my I-pod touch, or another computer. This laptop won't permit me to view these blogs.

If anyone has ANY ideas as to why this is happening, please help me. I have tried cleaning up my computer, deleating everyone's blog and re-entering them, cleaning files in my computer, asking help from tech support of Dell and so on.

I can't figure it out and I'm sad becuase this means that I only get to access certain blogs about once a week and thus many of you are missing out on some awesome comments that I have waiting for you.

Ha, Ha! I love that...missing out on awesome comments I have waiting for you...I do like your comments! I'm sorry. I am a retard when it comes to that kind of stuff. I hope you can figure it out. I think I have that problem with my friend Mandi and I eventually just gave up trying to read it. I could get access to it through google reader but I couldn't leave comments for her or see half of her pictures. Not worth it to me.

Internet explorer is garbage... You should use Google Chrome!

How do I use Google Chrome?

Dave and Tana said...

just go to google.com and search google chrome and download it... Its free. I love it!

If that doesnt change things than it is most likely something with your computer

Yeah, but isn't google chrome the search engine that is every parent's nightmare? You can search things up without it showing on a history. There's no way to track what your kids are looking at. We got rid of ours.

Google Chrome isn't a search engine; it's a browser just like Internet Explorer and Firefox are. I would use Chrome and Firefox before I touch IE. Like Dave, I can't stand IE. I've been using Chrome for over a year now and love it.

Chelsey, all current browsers have a "private" or "incognito" or "porn" mode in them. Don't rely on the browser to do the policing. -Jess

I think it's just easier for kids to find and shut off on Chrome though. Just my opinion. It point blank asks you if you want to turn it off. At least it does on my computer.

Chels... K9 protection. Tana is the only one that knows the code and we chose what kind of content that can be seen. Best thing we ever got for the internet.

Thank you, Thank you, Thank you, Thank you, Thank you, Thank you, Thank you, Thank you, THANK YOU so very much. Everything is working now. I switched to Google Chrome and I deleted Internet Explorer from our computer permanently so it's gone forever.

Thanks so much!!! I can now read everyone's stuff!!!

Michelle, glad you got Chrome going and that it works for you. I've gotten so used to entering either the known URL (espn.go.com) or a Google search string (Ute player getting into the face of BYU's kicker) into that single box on the top that I love it and have a hard time using a different browser.

Chelsey, we also use K9 as our internet filter. Free download.

Now how do I permanently delete Internet Explorer off my computer.

I went to the remove programs in my Control Panel and Internet Explorer didn't show up at all, so I'm wondering where the heck it is to remove it.

I removed the icon on the home screen and took it recycle bin, but that's not really getting rid of it.

I noticed in my Start screen that another icon for Internet Explorer is there and I'm not sure how to delete that either.

Any help is appreciated!

Not sure you should since it comes as part of your computer "image" -- all Windows OS packages come with IE installed. Uninstalling it would probably cause problems. You don't need to uninstall it, either. It's probably not a huge memory hog on your machine.
