So you know that I have been sick for about 10 days. The diagnosis from various people has caused great mirth in my life. My co-workers decided today that I have the Haunta Virus because we found a dead mouse in a cubicle across from mine. The smell started last Monday but nobody took care of it. (The stupid physical facilities men couldn't smell anything.) I led them right to the spot. Sure enough, there was stiff gray mouse that put out enough smell to drive a truck to California. Everyone was kidding me about it - it's a long funny story in our office.
Jim has insisted that I have undulatant fever which is related to cows. Am I cow?! I don't think so. He has been kidding, but that has added to the funny diagnosis. I went to work today and did ok. Jim picked me up about 3:30 and took me to the doctor to figure out why I have had a dry cough, headaches, and continuing low-grade fevers.
When the doctor came in, I said, "Here are three possible diagnosis before you begin: Haunta Virus (he split up laughing), undulant fever (laughing even harder) or you will say 'You have a virus - buck up and go home you big baby.' Let's see which is right."
He examined my throat, ears, nose, etc. He said, "Well, I do see some mouse droppings in your right ear." We roared with laughter and then I coughed some more. He couldn't hear anything rattling in my chest but because the cough was still there after 10 days he ordered an x-ray.
Want the REAL diagnosis (my co-workers are going to be so disappointed!)? I actually have pneumonia - not walking pneumonia, regular pneumonia. I got a nasty shot in my butt and I have to keep track of my fevers because I may have to have another shot tomorrow. I had to pay a lot of money for another antibiotic and I cannot go to work until next Monday as long as I feel better. I had no idea-- I was pretty shocked. My back behind my right lung hurts a lot tonight but the fever hasn't gotten too high.
So what's good about it? I have lost quite a bit of weight the past 10 days because I have absolutely no appetite. If I lose another 3 pounds, I will weigh less than I have in almost 10 years. Good motivation to keep going!! I get to stay home with Ammon for the next 4 days. It's UEA here this weekend so we will both be home together and we will get to play. He's delighted!
I get to miss a Thursday with lots of orders. :) I get to miss work! It's not all bad.
Finally, I have decided that I truly am a tough old bird!

Holy cow! (Get it?? That was punny, eh?) Sorry to hear it's pneumonia, but glad to hear it give you an excuse to make Dad do all the chores around the house for a few days! -Jess
Like I said, a snuggie might be in order. Glad you got it all figured out! Get better soon and get some rest.
Pneumonia...wow..you def werent complaining enough while we were talking on the phone. I wouldnt have guessed that by how you were talking. No fun!
I guess there are perks in everythig. Enjoy your time at home with Ammon!
I bet Ammon is so, so excited to have you home. Too bad that you have to have pneumonia to get that break though. Hope you get better soon Mom!
Hope you get feeling better soon. Pneumonia is no fun and it hurts so bad. I actually have a snuggie you can have if you want it. AND before anyone thinks I would ever order something that crazy, no way. I earned it free from Pampered Chef. It has a Pampered Chef logo on it. It's nice and warm, but abnoxious looking and every time I've used it Jason makes fun of me. At least I didn't buy it from TV.
Thanks to all of you for the offer of snuggies of one kind or another. My biggest problem is the struggle with the fevers. I wrap all up when I'm not supposed to and then when the fevers break in the middle of the night, the sheets and clothing are stuck to me in a damp mess and I have to have a shower. I'm sopping when the fevers break. Then I shiver because I get cold. It was a very bad night last night. I'm feeling much better right now although I'm really tired and I'm going to take a nap right now. I'll let you know if I decide I need a snuggie. :)
Nancy and I both have snuggies and regularly perform cult rituals while wearing them. It's the best way to enjoy them.
They're pretty warm too...
Ha, Ha. Lance, you need to comment more....
