I'll comment on my own post... :) It is official. An 8 year contract was signed by BYU and ESPN. We will be playing Notre Dame for a 6 game series starting in 2012. Basketball will play against Loyola Marymount, Gonzaga, University of Portland, University of San Diego, University of San Francisco, Pepperdine and maybe a couple of other teams that I can't remember in the West Coast Conference. They are all faith-based schools. We will not play on Sunday. This should prove to be very interesting. I'm so glad we are out of the Mountain West Conference!
That's exciting...I think. The perception is that while football gained freedom and more money, every other sport took a step down. I'm not sure that's true, but that's the perception. I like that we don't need the Mountain anymore. That station wasn't ever very good. I felt like I was watching a KJZZ production of a high school football game. Even their HD games weren't great. -Jester
According to the press conference at noon, they are trying to fit all other sports that aren't part of the WCC (track & field, swimming, gymnastics, etc.) into another conference that allows independent groups. They weren't specific on that one. I think basketball will be pretty good. Hey, Gonzaga -- John Stockton. Isn't that right? St. Mary's is another school in the group.
Another excited development. Starting in 2011, Iowa will be playing Nebraska every year. There is currently a 22-7-1 record between the two teams in Nebraska's favor but Iowa has been a very strong team the last couple of years and promises to continue to be a contender for the foreseeable future. Although I love the Hawkeyes, Nebraska will always be my team.

I'm just ready to watch some good football! Bring it on!

Yeah, I heard the Big 10 (12?) realigned their divisions and split up Ohio State and Michigan. Big changes all across the board. -Jess
