Michelle probably ought to be posting this since she is the one that related this to me but she is busy and I have a couple of minutes.
Tomorrow, five of us are running a race together. Michelle and I are doing a 5K and Brenden, Alyssa, and Scott are doing a 400 M race. Michelle and I have been talking about training runs or in my case swims, rides, and runs, all summer. Scott apparently picked up on our conversations.
Today, Scott went with Michelle to the North Liberty Rec. Center where she was teaching. He likes going with her to the Rec Center because they have lots of summer activities for children including a craft area that he has been frequenting. After class, Scott comes up to Michelle, with a newly minted craft in hand, and a tells her that he is ready for tomorrow's race. A little confused, she asked him what he meant. "I trained all during your class, Mom, I ran and ran around the track, I'm ready for the race," he replied. She looked down at the craft in his hand and asked him about it. Almost as if he had forgotten it, he looked down and said, "oh, yeah. I did this but then I trained the whole time."
I have no doubt that tomorrow will come and he will do fantastically well. I wish I could run around an indoor track for a few minutes once in a year and do equally well.

Good for Scott! Sounds like a fun family activity! -Jen
See, this is exactly what I'm talking about getting the family moving! Ok, we have to pick a date to start our family thing. You guys are already doing it!
I started this week (see my comment on Lindsey's blog re: jogging and racquetball). I'm also already sore. -Jess
Scott, Alyssa and Brenden all had a fabulous time at the race today. Brenden won First place and has a huge medal to show for it. I have taken lots of pictures and will post on our blog by this afternoon. So fun to run as a famiy.
