Tomorrow afternoon the painter will come and paint over the ugly wood paneling. Say goodbye to the 70's look. Tomorrow night if it all works as is planned, they will lay wood floor on this half of the room and the carpet will be laid on Saturday morning. Adam and Amy plan to move in Saturday afternoon or evening. Whew.
In the meantime, Jim and I don't quite know what to do with 40 year's worth of "stuff." Most of it isn't so important and we're sorting and tossing. Some is being stored probably never to be looked at again until after we die. Why oh why do we hang on to so much? I don't think it got so bad between all our other moves because we moved so often we routinely cleaned out our "stuff." It's been about 12 years since we moved here. We've lived here longer than anywhere else since we've been married. That's a lot of "stuff" to collect if you have a penchant to hoard and keep.. No names mentioned here. Our kitchen and hallway are full.
The living room is worse. Hmmmm.... Do you think Jim and I can keep up with Adam and Amy's pace? Nope... not even close. But hopefully by Saturday the "stuff" is stored away somewhere else other than the kitchen and living room. Oh yeah -- it's going in my bedroom 'cause Jim just wants to be near his stuff. That has nothing to do with Adam and Amy. It's Jim's decision and he's sticking by it. Stay tuned for the "after" photos. (There might be one gravesite with my mom's fake fiscus tree at it's head. You never know.)

Mom, if you move now, at least half your house is empty!
Hey, I see that Adam's moving in the afternoon or evening? I was scheduled to come down at 10am. I'm supposed to be home in the early evening. Guess I need to call Adam!
Im excited to see the basement with all of its transformations. I think it will really brighten it up and make you realize how big it really is. Good luck getting through all of your belongings.
Dave and I dont have much space right now and I feel like things are starting to collect in random places. I might need to do a run through and get rid of the random belongings.
Nice! I love to see that the basement is finally going to get painted! What about the fireplace? Any plans for that?
Nothing planned about the fireplace. Our woodworker moved away so we never did get that promised mantle.... :)
We might cover it with tiles. I've seen a fireplace like that and it was very beautiful, but that will come later.
Chris - I don't think I can keep up this pace, either. It will be a miracle if I finish packing the upstairs tonight!

Good luck with the move everyone! I'm excited to see what it looks like when it's all done.
There's a lot of stuff to organize, unpack, and fit in the rooms, but it's going to look great. Adam had some great help from his ward in Provo for the loading phase; he also had great help from people in Elk Ridge on the unload. Adam and Amy had a long day today with lots still to do, but the bulk of the moving is done! -Jess
Moving is never fun, but I hope your's is quick and that you get everything you want done and can make your new home feel like home. Wish we were there to help.
Can't wait to see the finished product, and i hope you all settle in soon!
