Boo! Did I scare you?

Hello everyone!  Just thought I drop in to say hi.  It's been a while since I've talked to some of you.  I didn't want you to feel I was neglecting my family responsibilities or duties. :)  How's everyone doing?  Life good/bad?  Here's your assignment (to keep me updated on your life):

You each have to write two exciting/good piece of news and one bad.  Here's mine...
Good: Gabe is almost completely potty trained.
We leave for our cruise on the 28th of this month!
Bad: Germans are RUDE!  Some of you know this already, but I thought I'd share just one little story about a rude german.  The other day the kids and I were in the food court ordering some grub.  There was a german woman two people ahead of me.  I guess Eva went up to her and spanked the woman on the bottom (keep in mind that I didn't see Eva do it, that's just what the woman said.  More than likely, Eva just bumped into her, but I guess I wouldn't put it past Eva).  Anyway, instead of this woman telling me to talk to Eva about it, she started screaming at her, then proceeded to grab a huge handful of piping hot, greesy french fries that she was just handed by the food handler, and threw them right at Eva's face.  Needless to say, I turned white trash American on her butt!  I have been so sick and tired of these Germans yelling at my kids or me that that was the end of it!  I wasn't going to put up with it any more.  I screamed at her on the top of my lungs.  I've never in my life screamed at anyone like that and it felt good.  I might actually start making a habit of it. :)  Everyone in the entire food court was silent and watching this.  Finally, when I threatened to punch her, she left.  The guys behind me in line said I should have reported it to the Military Police, but I never got her name and at that point, I think I pretty much taught her a lesson anyway.  So, here's the question:  What kind of a person would you have to be to EVER behave in such a way as to throw piping hot fries at a three year old girl?  No less, directly at her face!  Would if some oil or salt had gotten into Eva's eyes?  No matter what Eva did, this woman was still completely out of line.  What do you all think?

Whoah, you are the woman! I can't believe someone would act so crazy about a little girl spanking her butt. I think most people would smile and if they were offended they would just give a dirty look. But to throw hot fries at her? That's crazy.

I know, what a waste of good fries!

Good thing that happened to me: Jen and I went to the temple this morning; we got 16' primed MDF 5 1/4" base molding and 3 3/4" door casing for half retail price through KSL classifieds; I got a Blackberry Curve for free from a friend; I went jogging last night and am playing racquetball this afternoon; Adam and I have a tee time for 18 holes of golf at Cedar Hills GC tomorrow morning.

Now, for the bad thing: The Giants lost last night, although Tim Lincecum retook the strikeout lead in the NL.

Guess life isn't too bad. Of course, I didn't have a stranger spank my butt.

That's awful! Immature and rude! I'm excited for you guys to have a potty trained Gabe and be going on a cruise! So fun!

Good: I had another ultrasound this morning and got a cute profile picture of the baby sucking his thumb! The girls are all taking swim lessons right now and loving it!
Bad: School starts in a week and a half. I'm not ready for the summer fun to end!!!

Good: School starts in a week and a half.

Bad: Seminary starts in two weeks. That means hello 5:30 am for the next 9 months.

Wow, Linds. Your restraint is admirable. I would have ripped her head off and shoved the fries down the bloody stump that used to be her neck.

Jason,
You are far more violent than I realized!!
I'm glad Eva wasn't hurt by the hot fries. Inexcusable behavior by adults!

That's hilarious Jason. Just to point something out to all of you...Did you notice Jen's "bad" thing was that school is starting and Jason's "good" thing was that school was starting. That's just hilarious to me. This is fun. Adrianne, you forgot to write your good and bad things. Jess, you need to not brag so much at how wonderful your life is. :)) Man, do you want to switch for a while? I could use a break.

Crazy people everywhere, I tell you. People are just so angry and grumpy. I think it has to do with the lack of trials in their lives - maybe? Just a theory. I honestly am not sure what I would have done, but you can guarantee I would have gotten her name and any other info I could get on her - I mean, you can have WAY more fun with it later with good info. The internet makes it all possible (Thanks Al Gore!).

Ok, I'll give you my Good and Bad list...

Good: Today I was inspired in the shower here at work on a way to revolutionize how we deliver sales training.

Bad: Been here since 3:30am...haha

Good: Had Brick Oven for lunch!

Bad: due to my meal plan/diet constraints, it was basically a large plate of lettuce and 1 piece of pizza. :(

Good: Getting the iPhone 4!

Bad: it's on back order and will take weeks to get here...sad...

Good: It's my birthday on Sunday (in case you all forgot...again...lol)

Bad: I'll be 36 - closer to 40 than I wish to be...

Good: We've had thunderstorms all week - not as good as the midwest, but still fun.

Bad: That's not conducive to riding my bike to work.

And Last, but not least...

GOOD: I have the best wife EVER!!

BAD: She has to be married to my sorry bum....hee hee hee.

Life is pretty interestingly good.

You are right, I forgot.

Good: I am starting Tana's rag quilt and love the fabric. Sewing makes me all giddy looking at the fabric. Silly, I know.

Bad: Isaac just screamed, "I hate you." We don't get to move when I wanted which means we don't get any of hte cool houses we were looking at and now I have to continue being in Primary and teaching some rather difficult twins. Plus, I made a girl cry last night totally unintentionally. That was awesome. Let's see....you just wanted two?

This month hasn't been a good one for me so this game isn't a good one right now. Though, today has been a good day.

Lokodi said...

That's why I wanted two good things and only one bad thing. However, isn't it interesting how the bad seem to always outweigh the good lately? With maybe the exception of Jess. I thought Adam's take on the good vs. bad was funny. That's usually the way I look at things. I can always think of a good, but it's usually followed by a bad. Why is that? I've really got to change my way of thinking. It's starting to affect my marriage!

Lindsey, I'll switch you for a while. You can take the girls to our weekly play date at the park down the street and I'll take your kids to castles...sounds like a good switch to me! (and I'm glad you started this post...it's fun!)

Adrianne, I love fabric too...I love walking through the fabric store and wishing I had all of it in my house somewhere! I think I need to sew more! -Jen

Here's my good and bad moments this week:
Good -- I woke up every morning still alive.
Bad -- by the end of the week I wished I hadn't awakened a single morning 'cause it was a bad week at work.
Good -- got a handle on Ammon's UTIs for four whole days.
Bad -- the UTI is back.
Good -- got to talk to several of my kiddos.
Bad -- didn't get to talk to all of them.
Good -- Going to the temple tonight for the first time in a very long time.
Good -- we have had thunder, lightning, clouds and sporatic rain all week. AWESOME!
Good -- did a pretty good job with a large stratetic sourcing project at work.
Bad -- very, very difficult work situation to get a menu set up and in place for the BYU football players during their fall camp.
Good -- they had better win after all that work in their behalf!
And last of all -- tomorrow is Saturday and I have survived this week!

Good--
Tried a new shish-ka-bob (?) and marinade recipe and LOVED it (so did the 4 missionaries I fed tonight)

Had Brent home today to help out with the house/garage.

Bad--
Still don't know which school Sarah will be attending in a few weeks. She's in the middle of a school/ district battle right now. Quite irritating.

Dave didn't put the good/bad things for us up...so I will!

Good: I just saw that Adrianne is making me a blanket!! So excited! Thanks!

Good: Dave and I had a day that felt like Saturday...and forgot that it was Friday..so two more weekend days to go..Plus, it's TAX FREE weekend in Virginia!

Bad: It took me a whole extra hour added to the hour it already takes me to get to work yesterday...all because of rain. UGH!

We all have good lives. Everybody has bad things happen to them on a daily basis; some on the account of our own actions, while some just seems to show up. My personality is that I've never really focused on the bad things -- much to the chagrin of my wife at times. I tend to follow the Bobby McFerrin (Don't Worry, Be Happy) or Lion King (Hakuna Matata) mantra and sometimes it gets me in trouble. I think Jen wishes I were more ... stressed or outwardly passionate about things. I think Adam can attest to that part of my personality. He tried to get me to be more passionate for years.

So, yes, I'm sure there are plenty of bad things to note. I just can't remember them.

Good: Got a new bank account with Chase Bank. Got a Florida license. Found out that there is no safety and emissions tests in Florida. We had an awesome time at Madiera Beach with some friends. Russ and Becca had their 2nd child on Tues. John folded his arms for the first time during our nightly family prayer (didn't last long, but still so awesome). We get crazy awesome storms here almost every single day.

Bad: I don't have a job...

Please remember us in your prayers.

Thanks y'all. (just kidding, I don't talk like that yet)

I would have slapped that lady in the face and knocked her on her sorry fat butt. That freakin idiot.

Good: Kevin got promoted to a manager position at his job.

Bad: he only got a 25 cent raise for being promoted. And he hates the position. But he is the only one they trust for it.

Good: I bought some new shirts today with all the back to school shopping sales!

Bad: School starts soon and we only have one car. Don't know how that will work out.

Good: Got offered a job at Ally's salon- Urban Retreat. I think I will be working there starting in October. Maybe.

Bad: I got another cortisone shot in my wrist today. This time it was directly into one of my scars. It hurt really bad and I cried like a baby till the doctor finally stopped.

Good: Jess sent me a picture of their baby sucking it's thumb in the ultra sound today and it made me feel special. That baby and I are going to be BFF. I am happy that Jess even thought of me to send it to me- even though sucking your thumb till you are ten isn't exactly cute anymore.

Bad: I miss my sisters. Alot. I miss my brothers too, but sometimes, I just need my sisters.

Good: I like this post. It's fun and I wanna keep going.

Bad: I hate swamp coolers. My apartment is like a bagillian degrees and I can't sleep.

Good: we upgraded and got a queen mattress (we had been sleeping on a full). I love it.

Bad: Kevin isn't here to snuggle with me in it tonight. He is camping with his best buddies for a guys weekend to celebrate their friend getting married next week. So I'm alone. and scared.

Good: I babysat Ella and Henry yesterday and had so much fun. I get a glimpse into what motherhood would be like (well, the good side) and It was so much fun. They were really good for me and it was funny- they kept calling me mommy and would laugh and say "I mean, aunt gillian, not mom! Sorry!"

Thats it.

That was a waste of good fries.
I am in shock that anybody anywhere would ever treat a child like that. AND to throw stuff in their face. I would have lost it for sure. Maybe even pushed her, I don't know, but I wouldn't want to find out cause when I'm mad people should get out of the way and this would have sent me over the edge. Great restraint Lindsey on only yelling at her. I could have seen a complete cat fight had I been there.

Good: Jason, Brenden, Alyssa, Scott and I all finished our races in Swisher, IA this morning and Brenden won first place!

Bad: My hip is bothering me again and I think my shin splints are possibly coming back.

Good: Because the shin splints are possibly coming back, this means I need new shoes and I love getting new shoes.

Bad: buying new shoes, the cost is not pretty.

Good: No tornado in Iowa City yet this year. We have been having some vicious storms, one of which woke me up Monday night and I thought it was a tornado, the winds were so loud and it was pouring and the hail was huge.

Bad: That we need new tires on the car and van and can't afford them.

Good: Caleb's last day on tour is tonight and we will get to see him for more than 2 days at a time.

Bad: Caleb's last day on tour is tonight which means the fighting begins with the younger siblings and he will be miserable to be home, or at least he says.

Good: I got a new calling, FINALLY. I am on the activities committee and I love it so far.

Bad: They couldn't find someone for my old calling, so I still have it and might for a long time.
