Last night our family was visited by an old friend and his family. John Wakefield, Mona (his wife), and Angie (his daughter) are here visiting John's sister, Pam, who lives in Springville. They came for supper and we had a great time talking and eating.
John was a Priest in my quorum when I was Bishop in Nebraska. He eventually went on a mission to Hong Kong. He has now lived there for many years, and has married a woman from there. They live in the New Territories part of the colony. Mona is great fun. She is a wonderful woman and their daughter, who is now the age of a sophomore in high school, is smart, cute, and obviously very happy.
John teaches linguistics at a University in Hong Kong. He has appeared in many movies made in Hong Kong, and recently played a crooked cop in one. He has had a very interesting life. Obviously, he speaks very fluent Cantonese, and also much Mandarin.
John is the son of Gerry and Joyce Wakefield. He even worked on the farm in Nebraska for me until he went on his mission.
We spoke of old times and of Hong Kong. I lived there myself for two months myself. What a great visit!

I still have his old Tarzan books. I read them many times as a child.
I agree with Dad that it was a very delightful evening. Mona was an absolute hoot! She had never tasted Jello before and loved the raspberry Jello Dad had made. She made us laugh a lot. The daughter was refreshing and very sweet.
Good times were had by all. Ammon stayed in the room with us the whole time they were there. He seemed to like them a lot.
It sounds like you guys had such a great visit. I'm so glad. We love having people over for dinner!
