NYC

Brent was a trooper this past Saturday and watched the kids all day while I went back up to NYC to catch a broadway show. I met up with a friend of mine from Cincy and we caught the show Memphis. It was the 2010 Tony Award winner for the best musical. It was really GREAT! It's all about segregation and soul music. Seriously great music! The 2 leading characters were funny and deserved all the praise the show has gotten this year. Montego Glover was the lead and just the nightbefre, I'd seen her sing for President Obama in some tribute for veterans. It was pretty cool to see her in person.

I've decided I love the vibe in NYC. I've always been more of a city girl, but now I know I am. I still wouldn't be interested in living there with kids though. That'd be just miserable. It's just fun to walk down the streets and feel like you're a part of a vibrant community. The diversity is facinating.

The kids liked our trip up there too. I thought they'd be a bit more overwhelmed by the trains, subways and taxis, but they weren't. We went to FAO Schwartz and played on the BIG piano, checked out the NYC Museum of Natural History, Times Square, and Geoff even played the piano for people in Central Park!

Anyway, come visit me so Brent and I can take you to a show. I hear Mary Poppins is fabulous....

So you ended up actually going huh? How'd you work it out? Did you take the train or just drive? Isn't the city awesome? There's nowhere else in the world like it. Quite overwhelming, but in an incredible way. Glad you were able to go. Looks like you had a great time.

I think the city would scare the heck out of me - I am totally amazed that you tackled your first trip there with three kids and without Brent! You are far braver than I would ever be.
I'm glad you got the opportunity to get to one of the show. I'm sure there will be many more in your future.

I'm glad you went. What a fun day you must have had. Isn't it cool to live in the East--there is just so much to do so close!
