Musings

I have not been a great writer on this blog and this post will no doubt illistrate that, too.

This is going to be just a few things that are going one around me.

This next week I am going to teach the GD class about Elijah. Just think, I have a grandson by that name. It is one of the most interesting segments in the Old Testiment. I have looked up an old song that Chris and I sung with Wendy Pugh's ward choir in Citrus Heights. It was a song from the oratorio by Mendelssohn called Elijah. The song is called "Behold God the Lord Passed By." What a great experience that song was. It has been many years ago since that effort, and I still remember it.

I am training my young birds right now in prepartion for the races starting on the 4th of September. I have them out to Lehi so far. They have been there three times now and a ready to move on.

I planted (actually Chris did the work) about forty feet of carrots using some seeds I had from a nursery from back east. I have kept them in the refriderator and used them for three years. This year not one came up. Guess I will be buying carrots. We love them.

Chris has hired CJ Linford to help with Ammon. He will take the place of Kaitlin as she goes to school. He is doing fine so far. He has worked two days so far.

We are losing Lance and Nancy and John. They are going on their move to Tampa tomorrow. We will miss them. They came for chicken pillow and other fixings last Sunday. That leaves me only one grandsone nearby, Henry. He is great, but only one. Guess I will have to wait for Jen to do her thing. I love all the girls, too, but both kinds are great. Like Eli, little John has red hair. It is really cool.

So much for now.

That would be Gospel Doctrine not Gosh Darned, right?

Elijah is my very favorite. And this lesson is one of my favorites to teach.

You were my favorite teacher when I was a youth so I bet you do a great job teaching Gospel Doctrine. You probably don't have near as much fun as I have teaching the 5 year olds....Sometimes it is hard to teach them. I've been in Primary for five years now and it's starting to feel like time for a new job. But, that's not up to me and I'll serve in my current position as long as I need to.

Dad is still a superb teacher. He sometimes over prepares and struggles to figure out what to teach because so much is in his head - but the Spirit takes over and he always gives us a great deal to think about.
I agree with Jason - Elijah is one of my favorite stories of all times. It's a fun lesson to teach.
