I remembered the stories in the Book of Mormon where the people became less grateful and more forgetful of the Lord's hand as they prospered and I realized that we have to be ever watchful that we do not make more of ourselves than we should. Despite all the talent, good looks, hard work, financial savvy, wisdom and knowledge you might posses, you must not forget where it came from. You were blessed with those gifts when you were born. You have developed them along the way and you have pleased the Lord.
In Alma 37, Alma gave counsel to his son Helaman that would be well for all to hear again.
In verse 36 he said, "Yea, and cry unto God for all thy support; yea, let all thy doings be unto the Lord; yea, let the affections of thy heart be placed upon the Lord forever." And then he finishes in verse 46 by saying, "O my son, do not let us be slothful because of the easiness of the way; for so was it with our fathers; for so was it prepared for them, that if they would look they might live; even so it is with us. The way is prepared, and if we will look we may live forever."
Perhaps the uneasiness that presents itself to me stems from information that has come to me over the past few weeks concerning so many old friends and their families. Divorce seems to be rampant, faithful children are no longer faithful, financial burdens have caused families much distress; illness and death have come to some. In a little way, I almost feel shattered by their unhappiness. We must cling to each other and we must cling to the gospel of Jesus Christ.

Nice message, Mother. I think we all have pretty solid foundations built due to our upbringing. That's not to say we won't fall off our foundations, but if we do so it will be stumbling and tripping over yours and Dad's testimonies! -Jester
Thank you for the advice and your testimony...I think you need to do more writing.
Just so you know, you don't need to be worried about success going to my head anytime soon because the book writing thing hasn't been exactly easy or well received this last month....
Bummer. Oh well.
