Home Stuff

Boy did it snow today! By last night there was a foot of new snow. We parked our cars over at the driveway of the neighbor across the street who is usually in Oregon. This morning there was another foot of new snow. It took Mom well over an hour to get to work. I went out and had to shovel just to get the garbage cans out to the street. I did not know exactly where to put them. The city had not yet cleaned the streets. I had to shovel to get Ammon over to the bus stop. It was incredible. Mom went out early and shoveled a half hour or so herself just to be able to get out of the driveway and to clear a path for Ammon to get out to the street. By the time I got in the house at nine thirty I was wet and frozen. My back hurt so bad that I was not worth much for several hours.

Today I got the brother of Kevin Mohlman, Steve, to come and finish the tile in the master bathroom. Now all that is left is to put in the toilet, and seal the tile grout. It looks great. We had some friends volunteer to do the tile, and they laid it. But they had never come to grout it, so I just hired someone. Steve did a very nice job. He is going to school and has done tile for ten years. I am very pleased with how it looks. Mom will be delighted.

We are going to have a family Christmas party this Sunday. We have done it for years, but last year Chris and I did not get to go. Ammon was in the hospital. Chris is going to put some details on the blog later today.

Lance called today and said his whole family was sick. It may be colds, but could be the flu. I am sure glad that we all have had the shots at home. The flu is bad. I did not get a shot many years ago when we lived at BYU farm. Chris got tickets to go see Chuck Mangione and I was so sick I could not go. She took Shirley instead of me, and she and Chris loved it! I missed out. I have had a shot every year since and have missed out on the flu every year. Is there a message in this?

So much for my musings. Hope things are going well for each of you.

Things are going great here. Our family is sick here too. We get sick, then we have a week or so break and then someone else gets sick, then we all continue again. Right now the boys are sick and Mike is sick but I am free from sickness. I was sick last week so hopefully I won't get this. It is just cold symptoms so far. I hope Lance and his family get better!

Tonight was my first class of gum paste and fondant. It is going to be a fun class.

The boys got snow boots for the first time in their lives and love them. They tried to sleep in them and Mike said, "We don't sleep in boots, boys" to which they said, "oh man!"

Sorry we aren't around to help with the remodeling and the shoveling.

It is good to hear updates on everybody! That snow sounds rough. I have never actually lived in a place where I had to shovel like that and I dont look forward to the day when it happens...Im not good at waking up early for things like that. Have a great time this Sunday with the Christmas party.

We got a ton of snow yesterday -- about a foot after it was all done. It would have been skiers heaven because it was pure powder.

Glad the tile in your bathroom is done. Will he do you hallway, too? -Jess

He will do the hallway when we have enough money to do it. We decided that we needed to hold off a little - tithing settlement is coming up, Christmas is here and we wanted to make sure we had enough to take care of some other bills first. So -- hallway is mostly ripped up but the bathroom floor is done. It looks great!
I will paint the bathroom over the holidays and hopefully Jim will get the new shower rod installed this week.
