Some new talents

Mike is always saying how he thinks I ought to take a class and I always think it sounds fun but I also get scared for some reason. Maybe I think I'll just be dumb so I don't want to do. But, a friend here asked me to take a cake decorating class and another friend invited me to attend a three week photography seminar. I've only been able to go to two of them but the first one was just a "learn how to use your camera" class. I have a ways to go until I get good at photography (the pictures of Will and Mike and the boys I took after the class).

The cake class is so much fun. It is a lot of preparation! It takes me over two hours to prepare (make the cake, make six cups of frosting, tint the frosting, frost the cake, and get everything else ready for the class like tips, bags, etc.) I always curse the class while I prepare because of how long it takes to get ready for but when I'm in the class I just love it. I think that I am picking things up quickly but maybe I just think that....So, here are my two cakes.

The first cake is not cute, be warned. I didn't choose a very good cake to make (we get to choose from like three designs) and we only had ten minutes to decorate it in class. The second week got better and we had a little more time to decorate.

Those are cute! I have told myself for a few years that I'm going to take a cake decorating class when life isn't quite so busy...hope that happens someday. Jess would love to take a photography class, but he needs a better camera first!

Look at you talented lady! The Wilton classes are the same ones my friend Rachael took and now she's able to make all kinds of beautiful cakes-- like that fun BYU helmet one. Your cakes look great! Keep it up!

What fun! I love what you are doing and I'm so happy that you are learning new things. I've been going to take some community classes for a while but never get there to sign up.
Hope you keep doing this.
